Measures to improve the efficiency of agricultural models in Tuong Duong
(Baonghean.vn) - After 1 year of implementing the Plan to apply scientific and technological advances to production of some agricultural models in Tuong Duong, it shows that the productivity and quality of crops and livestock have increased significantly. Therefore, this method will continue to be replicated by the locality.
After 1 year of implementing the plan of the People's Committee of Tuong Duong district on applying scientific and technical advances to the production of a number of agricultural models in 3 communes, Tam Quang is a locality with many highly effective models.
Notably, the model of applying science and technology to the production of red-fleshed dragon fruit trees according to VietGAP standards on an area of 7 hectares. Currently, the red-fleshed dragon fruit production area of Tam Quang commune has been granted a certificate of food safety qualified facility, has designed logos, brands, packaging and QR codes to trace the origin of red-fleshed dragon fruit products, becoming an OCOP product achieving 3 stars at the provincial level at the end of 2021.

In Tam Quang commune, thanks to the application of closed barn technology, automating all or some stages in concentrated pig farming, not only has livestock productivity been improved, but the locality has also ensured good environmental sanitation. Authorities at all levels have supported and guided people to apply technology to build 5 waste treatment tanks to keep barns clean, not polluting the surrounding environment in biosafety pig farming.
Currently, in Tam Quang area, there are 13 households raising 20-50 pigs/litter, raising and selling 2-3 litters per year. In addition, people are also instructed to apply artificial insemination technology for 100 sows/60 households to produce breeding pigs, providing enough pig breeds in the commune and neighboring communes.
Not only in pig farming, economic development from the fattening cattle model is also gradually helping Tam Quang people increase their income through the model of "Building a beef cattle breeding area applying science and technology" in Bai So village. Technical processes in care, feeding, fattening, and veterinary disease prevention have been applied to 500 cows in 50 households. Families also purchased machinery to mechanize the planting of high-nutrient grass on over 30 hectares, and at the same time applied the method of processing fattening feed for buffaloes and cows using the technology of fermenting raw and green food; applying microbiological technology to ferment 400 tons of manure with Trichoderma Nano antagonistic fungi to produce and supply fertilizer for agricultural production.

With this method, in Thach Giam town, there are 18 households with high income from caring for, raising and fattening 150 cows, currently the cow herd has produced 22 calves.
In Tam Thai commune, the model of applying science and technology to the production of Taiwanese guava follows VietGAP standards. Specifically, people are instructed on how to build a drip irrigation system on an area of 1.2 hectares of Taiwanese guava in Dooc Bua village, bringing in an income of about 110 million VND/ha for households participating in the model.
Mr. Lo Kham Kha - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of the People's Committee of Tuong Duong district said that through the evaluation of 1 year of implementing the Plan for Applying Scientific and Technical Advances in Production of a number of agricultural models in Tam Quang and Tam Thai communes and Thach Giam town, it shows that this is a method in line with the development orientation of the district, gradually changing the awareness of farmers in the district about agricultural production towards commodity agriculture, efficiency and sustainability.
Developing agricultural production by applying science and technology contributes to promoting the application of scientific and technological advances in production, improving the intensive farming level of producers, converting farming practices to industrial methods, suitable for the market economy; increasing production value, increasing income and improving the lives of workers, actively contributing to the new rural construction program.
Along with that, according to the assessment of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tuong Duong district, the application of scientific and technological advances in agricultural production is also an effective measure in protecting the environment, limiting negative impacts caused by agricultural production such as chemical residues, pesticides in cultivation; livestock waste, pathogens in livestock and aquaculture... At the same time, it helps exploit agricultural waste into organic fertilizer for rice, vegetables,...
Thanks to the widespread use of technical advances in seeds and advanced farming technology processes, crop, livestock and aquatic productivity is constantly improved, the quality of agricultural products is guaranteed, and the value of products is increased. Therefore, agricultural production applying science and technology will increase the production value per unit area by 30-40% higher than conventional methods.
