In the 2022 World Cup semi-final between France and Morocco, the reigning world champions secured a comfortable 2-0 victory against the African underdog. Thus, France will face Argentina in the final, while Morocco will play Croatia in the third-place match.

In this match, coach Deschamps fielded midfielder Fofana in the starting lineup alongside Tchoumeni. Previously, the midfielder had been given an opportunity in the group stage match against Tunisia.
