Many practical activities to support Agent Orange victims and people with disabilities

(Baonghean.vn) - On December 20, the Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin of Nghe An province held a summary of the work in 2022, deployed tasks in 2023 and the Nghe An Children's Support Fund organized training and donated wheelchairs to people with disabilities in difficult circumstances in the province.

Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin in Nghe An Provinceorganized a summary of the work in 2022 and deployed tasks for 2023. In the past year, despite many difficulties due to the pandemic and natural disasters, the Association still tried to overcome them to achieve many results. Notably, the work of mobilizing the establishment of the Agent Orange Fund. Up to now, the whole province has mobilized agencies, businesses, and philanthropists to support all levels of the Association with a total value of nearly 5 billion VND. In 2022, with mobilized resources, the Association at all levels presented over 8,800 gifts, supported the construction of houses for 19 members, and presented 19 wheelchairs... In addition, the Association also coordinated and effectively implemented many other activities, arousing and promoting the tradition of "mutual love, remembering the source of water when drinking".

In 2023, the Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin sets out specific tasks. In particular, focusing on consolidating and building a strong association, actively promoting and mobilizing organizations and individuals to continue to care for and help Agent Orange victims overcome difficulties and pain to stabilize their lives.

Nghe An Children's Support Fundorganized a training program and donated 488 wheelchairs to disadvantaged people with disabilities in the province. The total number of wheelchairs worth nearly 1 billion VND was sponsored by the US organization Giving It Back To Kids.

At the training session, representatives of the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs of districts, cities and towns were instructed on how to assemble wheelchairs properly, adjust them appropriately for the subject; how to organize the wheelchair distribution program... 488 wheelchairs this time will be delivered directly to the disabled people of 13 districts, cities and towns.

This is a meaningful gift, helping people with disabilities have easier means of transportation, living and working, reducing the burden of care for relatives; at the same time creating motivation for people with disabilities to continue to strive in life and integrate into the community./.
