(Baonghean.vn) - In an interview broadcast on national television, President Vladimir Putin accused the West of trying to "tear apart" Russia.

President Putin emphasized: “The core of all problems is the policy of our geopolitical rivals, which aims to tear Russia apart… They always seek to “divide and rule”… Our goal is different - to unite the Russian people.”

In addition, President Putin expressed “100%” confidence that the Russian military will destroy the Pentagon’s most advanced Patriot air defense missile system, which US President Joe Biden pledged to provide to Ukraine. “Of course we will destroy it, 100%!”, the Russian leader declared, referring to the Patriot system.

President Putin also declared that Moscow is ready to negotiate with all parties involved in the conflict in Ukraine, but Kiev itself and its Western backers have refused to engage in dialogue.

President Putin stated: “I believe that we are acting in the right direction, we are protecting our national interests, the interests of our citizens, of our people. We have no other choice but to protect our citizens… We are ready to negotiate with the parties concerned to find acceptable solutions, but it is up to them – it is not Russia that refuses to negotiate, it is them.”

Meanwhile, TASS news agency reported that about 100 km from the Ukrainian border, Russian air defense forces shot down a Ukrainian drone early on the morning of December 26 when it approached a Russian airbase, with debris killing three people./.
