(Baonghean.vn) - On the evening of December 26, in Hanoi, the National Traffic Safety Committee held the 2022 Traffic Safety Journalism and Propaganda Award Ceremony and launched the 2023 award.

Attending the ceremony were comrades: Nguyen Van Thang - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Transport, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee; Nguyen Thanh Lam - Deputy Minister of Information and Communications; Khuat Viet Hung - Vice Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee.

Also attending were representatives of central ministries, departments and branches; representatives of leaders of central and local press agencies, and authors and groups of authors whose works were honored at the Award Ceremony.

The Traffic Safety Journalism Award is an annual activity, held since 2012. This activity aims to commend, honor, encourage and reward promptly authors and press works that are valuable in terms of content, form, impact and positive spread to society in the work of ensuring traffic order and safety; thereby, encouraging and motivating press agencies and journalists to actively participate in the work of propagating and disseminating laws on traffic order and safety, contributing to reducing traffic accidents in a sustainable manner nationwide.

In 2022, the traffic safety journalism award attracted more than 500 works from reporters and groups of reporters from press agencies nationwide. Many of these works continued to address issues of concern to the whole society, such as handling violations related to alcohol concentration; overloaded and oversized vehicles; handling black spots;... Through that, the press works proposed and suggested many new solutions to control and reduce traffic accidents, as well as discovered typical examples, creative models, and good experiences in ensuring traffic order and safety.

Accordingly, the Organizing Committee selected and awarded 51 prizes, including 47 individual works, including 4 First prizes, 9 Second prizes, 12 Third prizes, 22 Encouragement prizes and 4 collective prizes in all 5 categories of visual press, spoken press, printed press and electronic press.

Speaking at the award ceremony, comrade Nguyen Van Thang - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Transport, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee affirmed that the press and media play a particularly important role in the economic, political, cultural and social life of the country in general and in ensuring traffic order and safety in particular.

He also highly appreciated the press works with rich propaganda forms that have contributed to raising awareness, creating positive changes in the behavior of traffic participants, thereby forming a traffic culture as well as helping authorities to perfect legal regulations and policies as well as improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the task implementation process to reduce traffic accidents and overcome traffic congestion...

He noted that the number of vehicles continues to increase, while the conditions and capacity of infrastructure are still limited, creating huge challenges for ensuring traffic order and safety. This requires the entire political system to continue to take drastic action and implement synchronous solutions. In particular, there needs to be the role and contribution of press agencies and journalists in continuing to pay attention to the work of propaganda, dissemination and education of traffic laws, building a culture of safe traffic for the people, and actively participating in the press award for traffic safety propaganda to have more and more entries, more good works and higher awards.
