Woman almost lost more than 570 million VND to scammer

Nghia Phuc Commune Police, Tan Ky District said: On the morning of December 26, Ms. LTH (born in 1957), a citizen of Nghia Phuc Commune, Tan Ky District, received a call from phone number 0795.320.983 with the content of the notification that Ms. H. had an arrest warrant from the Hanoi City Investigation Agency for her involvement inmoney laundering crimes.

The subjects asked her to transfer the entire amount of money from 3 savings books worth 571 million VND to the bank to serve the purpose of freezing the bank account. Thinking that she was a criminal, Ms. H. went to the bank to prepare to transfer money to the subjects. On the way to the bank to withdraw money from 3 savings books in her name, Ms. H. suddenly remembered that the Nghia Phuc Commune Police force had propagated about the tricks of criminals using high technology, so she turned to the Nghia Phuc Commune Police headquarters to report.

At the Nghia Phuc Commune Police Station, the Commune Police officers directly used Ms. H.'s phone (when the subjects were in contact) to continue the conversation. Using professional measures, the authorities discovered that these were scammers and asked Ms. H. not to transfer money to them.

Ms. H. was extremely happy and thanked the Nghia Phuc Commune Police. In her thank you letter to the Nghia Phuc Commune Police, Ms. H. wrote: "I would like to thank the Nghia Phuc Commune Police for advising and helping me avoid being scammed by criminals and losing the money from 3 savings books with a total amount of 571 million VND that my children working far away sent back for me to open savings books."
