(Baonghean.vn) - From the beginning of 2022 until now, Nghe An has had 1,948 workers whose contracts were terminated, 452 workers whose contracts were suspended. Of which, more than 1,000 workers had their labor contracts terminated at the end of the year but were not entitled to Tet benefits.

No job, no Tet bonus

Stick with the CompanyMatrix Vinh LLCSince its inception, Ms. Dau Thi Vinh (born in 1981) has worked for 11 years, contributing as a skilled sewing worker. However, on December 5, she was forced to terminate her labor contract with the company because the company temporarily stopped operating.

Unemployed at the age of 41, Ms. Vinh struggled to find a new job. The reason for the rejection from local companies was because of her old age. In addition, businesses hardly accept more workers before Tet, especially when the garment industry is facing many difficulties in the current period.

Faced with that situation, Ms. Vinh was forced to become a freelance worker, doing whatever job anyone hired her to earn money to raise her 3 children, the youngest of whom was not yet 2 years old. Ms. Vinh said that not only herself but many people in Matrix Vinh Company Limited after being fired could not find jobs. Tet is near but this is definitely a sad Tet for these workers when entering the new year without work and no Tet bonus.

It is known that on December 5, Matrix Vinh Company Limited terminated the contracts with 410 workers and announced a temporary suspension of operations due to the company having no orders to continue production. The laid-off workers will receive 2 months of minimum wage in region 2 to compensate for the contract (total of 8,160,000 VND). Although they quit their jobs at the end of the year, these workers did not receive a Tet bonus because the company is in a difficult time.

In Thanh Chuong district, 460 workers were forced to terminate their labor contracts. At ABC International Group Joint Stock Company - Nghe An Branch (Thanh Chuong district), the situation is even more bleak.

Accordingly, the company announced that it would temporarily suspend operations from the end of October 2022 until the end of February 2023 due to lack of orders. Many workers could not wait for the suspension period and were forced to voluntarily terminate their labor contracts. For that reason, they were not compensated but only paid the salary they worked for. To date, the company has 460 workers forced to terminate their labor contracts and 105 workers will have their contracts suspended until early 2023.

Warning about cutting working hours and terminating labor contracts

Not only the two companies mentioned above, but in the recent past, the reduction of working hours and termination of labor contracts has taken place in many places throughout the province.

In Dien Chau district, large enterprises such as Trong Phuc Garment Company Limited had to reduce working hours for 294 workers, terminate labor contracts with 140 workers, and suspend contracts with 294 workers. Nam Thuan Garment Company was forced to reduce 1,500 workers (overtotal number of company employees) and terminated labor contracts with 120 people.

For the remaining companies in the province, the role of the trade union has also been maximized to limit the termination and suspension of labor contracts.

Comrade Kha Van Tam - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Labor Federation said that in enterprises that were forced to terminate labor contracts, the grassroots trade unions, with the support of the higher-level trade unions, participated in giving opinions on the enterprise's labor use plan; ensuring payment of unemployment or severance benefits in accordance with the provisions of law and the enterprise, and the signed collective labor agreement. Among the 1,948 workers whose contracts were terminated in 2022, trade unions at all levels also connected with local business unions that needed to recruit workers to introduce jobs to workers. Since then, many workers have found new jobs.

However, for those who lose their jobs at the end of the year, there are still many difficulties. In this context, the State's support policies on social security, training, and connecting labor supply and demand are considered key factors to solve practical problems./.
