RECOGNIZING THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF NGHE AN PEOPLE TO THEIR HOMETOWN

The meeting between Nghe An provincial leaders and Nghe An people working and retired in Hanoi on the occasion of preparing for the Lunar New Year has become a tradition for many years, thereby encouraging and motivating generations of Nghe An people to strive and practice in various fields of work, to rise up and establish their careers, and to contribute to building their homeland and country.

At the conference, comrade Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, on behalf of the provincial leaders, reported on the socio-economic development results of Nghe An in 2022 and some development orientations of the province in the coming time.

In 2022, the province faced many difficulties and challenges, but the socio-economic situation in 2022 achieved positive and comprehensive results in many areas. By the end of 2022, 27/28 main targets had been achieved and exceeded the set plan. In particular, the GRDP growth rate increased by 9.08%, ranking 2nd in the North Central region and 22nd in the country.

Budget revenue reached VND21,805 billion, exceeding 45.2% of the estimate assigned by the Provincial People's Council. The whole province is expected to have 309/411 communes meeting new rural standards, 9 district-level units completing the task of building new rural areas.

Foreign affairs and investment attraction, especially foreign direct investment (FDI), achieved high results. The total newly registered and increased investment capital reached more than 45,764 billion VND, up 3.74% over the same period in 2021. In 2022, for the first time, Nghe An entered the top 10 localities attracting the highest FDI capital in the country with a total registered capital of 961.3 million USD.

The fields of culture - society, ensuring social security continued to receive attention and direction and achieved positive results. National defense, security and social order and safety were ensured, especially the successful organization of the provincial defense and civil defense area drills.

The province has also focused on implementing and basically completing important political tasks such as: Completing the appraisal of the Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, continuing to complete it for submission to the Prime Minister for approval; coordinating with the Central Economic Committee to prepare contents to serve the summary of 10 years of implementing Resolution No. 26 of the Politburo.

Comrade Nguyen Duc Trung affirmed that to achieve the above results, the province has drawn three major lessons. These are the tradition of solidarity, unity, joint efforts, and unanimity of the people of Nghe An to carry out the goals and tasks; Close coordination and sharing in the leadership of the Provincial Party Committee, in the supervision of the Provincial People's Council, the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, and timely handling of arising issues; In carrying out tasks, there is a choice of focus and key points, not dispersion or spread out.

In addition to the efforts of the Party Committee, the government, the consensus of the people and businesses in the province, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that to achieve the above results, there were important contributions from Nghe An people living far from home, and the Nghe An Association across the country.

WISHING TO CONTINUE RECEIVING ATTENTION AND SUPPORT

Entering 2023, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung said that this is a pivotal year, a mid-term year, so it has important significance, creating a foundation to implement the goals of the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress and the 5-year Socio-Economic Development Plan (2021-2025).

However, this is forecast to be a year with many difficulties and challenges. The province sets a target of GRDP growth of 9-10% in 2023; budget revenue of 15,857 billion VND; total export turnover of 2.870 billion USD...

The province will review and evaluate the implementation of mid-term tasks, because this is an important milestone to comprehensively evaluate all areas, creating a premise to complete the goals and tasks of implementing the Resolutions of Congresses at all levels.

Nghe An identified 5 key political tasks that need to be implemented and completed well in 2023. The province continues to coordinate with the Central Steering Committee to complete the summary of 10 years of implementing Resolution No. 26 and propose and submit to the Politburo to issue a new Resolution associated with researching and supplementing appropriate mechanisms and policies, creating new momentum for the province's development.

The province will also organize the announcement and effective implementation of the Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, after being approved by the Prime Minister. Solve strategic infrastructure bottlenecks, focusing on accelerating the completion of procedures to soon start the implementation of two strategic infrastructure projects: Cua Lo deep-water seaport and upgrading and expanding Vinh International Airport.

Continue to strongly reform the business investment environment, administrative reform, focus on digital transformation. Pay attention to social security, in which the province will establish a Steering Committee to implement a program to call for support to build houses for the poor.

Wishing good health and success to all Nghe An people living far from home, including Nghe An compatriots in Hanoi on the occasion of the New Year and preparing to welcome the Lunar New Year of Quy Mao 2023, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung hopes that Nghe An people living far from home will continue to accompany, encourage, share and support the province's development in the coming time.

Comrade Le Doan Hop also informed about the outstanding results of the Liaison Committee of Nghe An Fellow Countrymen Association in Hanoi in 2022; including giving gifts to students and border guards in Tuong Duong district, supporting people affected by natural disasters in Ky Son and Nghi Loc districts; organizing meetings, visiting and praising hundreds of members...

In 2023, in addition to regular activities, the Nghe An Association in Hanoi will gather, call on, and mobilize the strength of Nghe An businesses in Hanoi to participate in supporting and contributing to eliminating temporary housing for the poor in the province.
