Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development deploys tasks for 2023

(Baonghean.vn) - On January 13, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development held a national online conference to summarize 2022 and deploy the 2023 plan. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended and directed the conference.

Growth momentum is quite high and comprehensive

In 2022, the Agriculture and Rural Development sector will carry out its tasks in conditions with both advantages and difficulties, and challenges intertwined, such as natural disasters, epidemics, and the Russia-Ukraine military conflict causing great impacts. However, thanks to drastic solutions, the sector has maintained a relatively high and comprehensive growth momentum, achieving and exceeding most of the set goals and targets, with many targets being excellently completed.

In production, the production mindset has gradually shifted to agricultural economic mindset, contributing to improving growth quality and income for farmers. The GDP growth rate of the whole sector reached 3.36%. The total export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products reached 53.22 billion USD; 73.06% of communes met new rural standards and 255 district-level units met standards/completed the task of building new rural areas. The forest coverage rate reached 42.02%, gradually improving forest quality.

These results have affirmed the role of supporting and firmly ensuring national food security, jobs and livelihoods for the people.

In 2022, the agricultural growth rate of Nghe An province reached 4.78%, continuing to be the highest in the North Central region. Total food output reached over 1.2 million tons. Total export value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products reached over 487.5 million USD. The new rural development program and poverty reduction programs achieved many remarkable results.

Affirming the role of a solid pillar of the national economy

At the conference, delegates focused on discussing solutions to effectively implement the tasks and development goals for 2023 such as: GDP growth rate of about 3.0%; Agricultural, forestry and fishery export turnover of 54 billion USD; The rate of communes meeting new rural standards is over 78%. Along with that, the forest coverage rate is stable at 42.02%, improving forest quality. In 2022, Nghe An has newly established 1,500 agricultural cooperatives.

Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts and results achieved by the Agriculture and Rural Development sector in 2022.

“With the direction of the Government and relevant sectors, the results are also the result of the joint efforts, overcoming difficulties, and creativity of the business community and farmers nationwide,” Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed.

The Head of Government requested that in 2023, the Agriculture and Rural Development sector needs to continue to make breakthroughs in its development strategy; promote the sector's ability to overcome difficulties, and continue to play an important supporting role in the economy.

The Prime Minister stated: To achieve the goals set for 2023, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development needs to closely follow reality, closely coordinate with sectors and localities in the implementation process, in order to promptly remove difficulties and obstacles, overcome existing problems regarding unsustainable growth; the control of IUU yellow cards in seafood exploitation has not been completed...

Create close coordination and connection between the State - enterprises - farmers and scientists. At the same time, have strong and appropriate investment strategies and plans for science and technology development, linking OCOP product production with the consumer market.
