At the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases (Dong Anh, Hanoi), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Department; visited and presented gifts to the on-duty team and some patients being treated there.

Speaking and wishing the hospital’s staff, doctors and medical staff a Happy New Year, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his emotion when visiting the hospital and witnessing the doctors and medical staff still working hard to take care of people’s health and protect their lives; especially many female doctors and medical staff still put aside family work to work.

The Head of Government was pleased to see that the Hospital has been constantly developing in both scale and quality over the years. From a building with 120 beds and 75 staff members at the time of its establishment, the Hospital now has two spacious facilities with relatively modern machinery and equipment, a team of highly qualified and responsible doctors, nurses and technicians; truly becoming a trusted address for the people in the treatment of dangerous diseases.

The Prime Minister assessed that the Hospital has grown remarkably through the COVID-19 pandemic; requested the Ministry of Health to summarize the expertise, organization, and other related work within its functions, tasks, and major policies on epidemic prevention and control.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Vietnam has made the right decisions in preventing and fighting the epidemic and achieved high efficiency. Thanks to that, Vietnam has controlled and repelled the epidemic early, opened the economy early, and successfully and safely organized the 31st SEA Games, which is a very important test of safety against the COVID-19 epidemic.

In that success, the Ministry of Health plays a very important role and the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases is an important link in the fight against the epidemic. During the pandemic, cadres, doctors and medical staff bravely faced dangerous epidemics to treat patients, dedicating themselves to the Fatherland and the people. The hospital had to make efforts to treat patients and support the South.

On behalf of the Government, the Prime Minister commended and highly appreciated the results that the Hospital has achieved in the past time; hoped that the Hospital would unite and strive to fulfill the noble tasks assigned, promote the spirit of "Bright medical ethics, profound medical theory, good medical skills"; promote the spirit as Uncle Ho taught "Doctors are like kind mothers"; "... love and care for patients like their own blood brothers and sisters, consider their pain as their own pain...".

The Prime Minister hopes that the Ministry of Health will promote its recent achievements and be ready to go anywhere and do anything when people's lives and health are threatened. The team of doctors, cadres and medical staff of the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases in particular and the team of doctors and nurses in the health sector have been dedicated, not afraid of hardship, difficulty and danger, joining hands with the medical team and other forces to fight tirelessly against the epidemic, putting people's lives and health first and foremost.

The Prime Minister stated that the epidemic will continue to develop complicatedly in the coming time, requiring accurate forecasts to prepare the mindset, resources, and human resources, and replicate good models and practices; strengthen epidemic prevention and control, promote vaccination, especially for people with underlying diseases and the elderly; and request localities to follow the spirit of the National Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control to vaccinate enough doses of vaccine according to the instructions of the Ministry of Health in a scientific, safe, and effective manner.

Agencies, units and localities must raise awareness of disease prevention and control, especially in crowded places; strengthen food hygiene and safety during Tet.

The Ministry of Health needs to provide guidance on food safety measures for localities during this Tet holiday, avoiding mass food poisoning incidents in crowded urban areas, factories, enterprises, etc.; calling on people to both prevent and fight the epidemic and ensure food safety and hygiene, so that everyone and every family can have a safe, joyful, healthy and economical Tet holiday.

The Head of Government requested the Hospital to increase its readiness during these Tet holidays, provide the best service, and put the health and lives of the people above all else.

“The Party, State and people acknowledge the efforts of doctors and medical staff during this Tet holiday,” the Prime Minister affirmed.

Looking forward to the Vietnamese Doctors' Day on February 27, the Prime Minister wished the Hospital to uphold its tradition, continue to do a good job of taking care of people's health and lives during Tet; make efforts to assign staff to ensure work, be ready to promptly treat patients; maintain health, ensure food hygiene and safety; and wish the health sector in general and the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases in particular to reap more success.
