How is Vinh city moving towards a coastal city?

From the continuous efforts to create a favorable investment and business environment to increase the attraction of domestic and foreign resources for socio-economic development, especially with the great attention of the Central Government and the province, recently Vinh city has received many investors coming to learn about and hope to have the opportunity to invest in projects in the city.

To achieve that, we must first mention Decision No. 827/QD-TTg dated June 12, 2020 of the Prime Minister approving the Project to develop Vinh city, Nghe An province into an economic and cultural center of the North Central region by 2023 in the spirit of Resolution No. 26-NQ/TW of the Politburo dated July 30, 2013. Accordingly, Vinh city will merge with Cua Lo, becoming a coastal city in the near future.

It can be said that since the Vinh - Cua Lo boulevard phase 1 was completed, it only takes about 20 minutes by car or motorbike to go from Vinh to Cua Lo borough. And a series of other traffic projects have been opened, along with many directions from the province on the expansion plan of Vinh... the goal of building Vinh city into a coastal city is gradually becoming clear...

Implementing the Central Government's viewpoint on developing Vinh city in a comprehensive relationship, ensuring close connection with districts and towns in the province, provinces in the North Central region with a central role in the fields of economy, culture and society, Vinh city has proactively coordinated with all levels and sectors to actively clear the land, construct or coordinate to create conditions for the construction and upgrading of many important urban infrastructure works to soon expand the city, connect with regions, and assume the functions of economic, cultural and traffic hubs of the region.

Specifically, these are: Investing in a 35m road from National Highway 46 to the Lam River road connecting Vinh airport with Ben Thuy bridge in the fastest way; Investing in Vinh - Cua Lo Boulevard phase 1 and now implementing phase 2; Investing in a 72m road connecting Hung Nguyen district, VSIP Industrial Park with the city center; Completing Cua Hoi bridge, and soon there will be a Hung Duc bridge across Lam river on the North - South expressway connecting one more step between Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces; Renovating and upgrading the sidewalk of National Highway 1A through Vinh city; Building sidewalks on Tran Phu, Le Duan, Nguyen Du and Phan Dinh Phung streets.

The city also actively grasped, reviewed, and completed the content of the pre-feasibility study report of the project "Priority infrastructure and urban development adapting to climate change in Vinh city, Nghe An province" to submit to the Ministry of Construction for appraisal to enhance the capacity of flood drainage and climate change response in the city.

The city also continues to propose investment in infrastructure projects in the city and proposes the province to invest in some connecting roads between urban areas such as: Upgrading and expanding Nguyen Viet Xuan Street and the road connecting Nguyen Sy Sach Street (extended) to the Dong Tho Block Planning Area, Hung Dung Ward, Vinh City. Actively coordinate with relevant departments and branches to implement the contents and tasks assigned by the Steering Committee for the Project to expand the administrative boundaries of Vinh City and the Provincial People's Committee...

Regarding investment attraction, Vinh City has proposed to the Provincial People's Committee to withdraw 83 suspended projects, creating new land funds for new investors. The city also facilitates and proactively attracts many large urban projects to the area such as: Eco Central Park project is a green urban area, Trang An Urban Area, Vinh Riverside Urban Area, urban areas in the Southwest... to reduce population density and expand urban space. The city is also attracting many important infrastructure projects such as expanding the Vinh airport - Muong Thanh Phuong Dong hotel route; upgrading and expanding National Highway 46 (Vinh - Kim Lien, Nam Dan section); upgrading Vinh - Cua Hoi route (Provincial Road 535)...

In 2022, with the effective leadership and direction of the Central Government and the province, and the support of businesses and people, Vinh city has completed 22/22 targets (groups of targets), including many outstanding targets that have been set, contributing to the implementation of the targets of the Resolution of the 24th City Party Congress, term 2020 - 2025. Budget revenue is estimated at 3,538 billion VND, reaching 170.5% of the provincial estimate, up 38.5% over the same period.

The mobilization of resources for urban beautification has received attention; the city has officially put the walking street into operation with many forms of business and services; accelerated the progress of compensation and site clearance for key projects. During the year, the city approved 168 compensation and site clearance plans with a total amount of VND 490 billion; completed 75/112 projects in the 2022 public investment plan; paid attention to implementing social security policies well; education and training maintained its position as the leading unit in the province in terms of education quality; focused on promoting and making breakthroughs in administrative reform; national defense and security were maintained.

In 2023, Vinh city celebrates 60 years of construction and growth. This is an opportunity for the city to promote the heroic spirit of the Red City, along with the attention and resources of the Central Government and the province, Vinh city continues to take new steps of development, with a new vision, towards the sea, building a smart city, developing the night-time economy, proactively preparing to merge Cua Lo town into Vinh city in the coming time.

Vinh City hopes to be an attractive, safe destination, a livable and prosperous city for international friends, tourists and all city residents.
