President Biden's Delaware residence was again searched by FBI agents looking for classified documents.

President Biden's Delaware residence was again searched by FBI agents looking for classified documents.

On February 1, President Joe Biden's lawyer announced that the US Department of Justice is conducting a planned search at Mr. Biden's private home in Rehoboth, Delaware, and has received the cooperation of the White House owner.

“We agreed to cooperate,” Reuters quoted Bob Bauer, President Biden’s personal lawyer, as saying that more information would be released after the search was completed.

Previously, the US Justice Department also searched Mr. Biden's home in Wilmington, Delaware, and an office he used.

Secret documents were found in the homes of former US President Donald Trump and former Vice President Mike Pence.

Biden has promised to cooperate with the search of his home, and Pence has said he will take responsibility for any classified material found. But Trump has refused to return the documents, prompting the FBI to raid the former president’s Florida home and resort last year.

US Attorney General Merrick Garland has appointed two special counsels to review the handling of classified documents seized from Mr Trump and Mr Biden, as both are looking ahead to the 2024 presidential election.

Intentionally removing or retaining classified documents is illegal, but to date no sitting or former US President or Vice President has been charged with this offense.
