Which technologies have the most potential to grow in the next 10 years?
(Baonghean.vn) - According to technology experts around the world, 5G, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, quantum computing and computer vision are the technologies with the strongest development potential in the next 10 years.
5G technology was first commercially deployed in Korea in April 2019. Nearly four years after the first 5G network officially went live and provided new services to customers, the number of 5G networks in the world has increased rapidly.

According to the Global Mobile Suppliers Association (GSA), as of the end of December 2022, globally, 515 mobile operators in 155 countries/territories have invested in 5G networks in the form of trials or are deploying or have deployed in practice. Of these, 243 mobile operators in 96 countries/territories have commercially deployed 5G services to customers.
The number of 5G mobile subscribers globally is also increasing rapidly. The Ericsson Mobility Report published in November 2022 showed that nearly 110 million subscribers were added globally in the third quarter of 2022, bringing the total number of global 5G mobile subscribers to around 870 million by the end of September 2022 and reaching 1 billion by the end of 2022. It is forecasted that by the end of 2028, the world will have 5 billion 5G subscribers, accounting for 55% of the total number of mobile subscribers.
5G mobile communication services enable a complete mobile and connected environment by providing a variety of application scenarios and business models for enterprises and consumers. Furthermore, the faster data speeds and ultra-low latency provided by 5G technology will enhance user experiences when using 5G services such as cloud-based gaming; VR (Virtual Reality)-based gaming; ultra-high-definition video streaming and many other high-end applications.
5G mobile technology helps support the connection of billions of devices as the world enters the era of Internet of Things (IoT), data is stored on cloud computing infrastructure, helping to reduce usage costs and support rapid digital transformation. The outstanding features of 5G are expected to rapidly promote the digital transformation process, leading to the formation of digital government models, digital economy and digital society.
Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Artificial intelligence or artificial intelligence (AI). This is a field related to computer science and information technology. The nature of artificial intelligence is still made by humans. They build algorithms and program with information technology software tools, helping computers to automatically process intelligent behaviors like humans.
Artificial intelligence has the ability to self-adapt, self-learn and self-develop, self-argue to solve problems, can communicate like humans... all because AI is installed with a large database, programmed on that database and reprogrammed on newly generated databases. Just like that, the structure of AI is always changing and adapting to new conditions and circumstances.
According to the forecast of the world's leading auditing company PwC (UK), global GDP could grow by an additional 14% from the support of artificial intelligence by 2030. AI has appeared in many industries and fields, from providing virtual shopping services and online banking to reducing investment costs in manufacturing and streamlining diagnosis in healthcare. AI has promoted the development of most industries and changed human life.
Nowadays,WHOis considered one of the most important technology fields, helping people solve many problems in life. This field is attracting great attention globally thanks to improvements with extremely modern and outstanding features. AI continues to be one of the emerging fields for all industries and is present everywhere. It can be said that the birth of AI is inevitable and necessary in the current digital age.
Cloud computing
Cloud computing is a technology that allows users to access storage, software, and servers through devices connected to the Internet such as smartphones, computers, wearable devices, etc. Cloud computing service providers store and process data in a location separate from the end user.
Cloud computing technology is currently a popular topic that many organizations and businesses around the world have been applying. Cloud-based infrastructure helps store data easily and securely.
Simply put, typically every organization or business runs applications on their own servers. These servers are located right at the organization or business’s location. This requires a lot of effort in maintenance, upkeep, money and time to keep everything running, upgraded and secured.
If organizations and businesses adopt the cloud computing model, they will still be able to use the same applications but they will be located on server clusters on the Internet. Organizations and businesses only need to connect via the Internet without having to spend any effort to maintain, service, upgrade, and run the server. Not only that, organizations and businesses can also let their customers use the application without having to install it.
Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, iCloud,... are typical examples of cloud computing services. Users just need to register an account and use the free and paid services according to their needs. They store documents on their "cloud" account and access them from any location as long as there is an internet connection.
Quantum computing
Quantum computing is one of the advanced information processing methods in the future. Accordingly, people will use the principles of quantum mechanics to perform complex calculations in a short period of time by many of the fastest supercomputers in the world.
Scientists say quantum computing is the key to a new era of technology. Engineers are eyeing a breakthrough in quantum computing. If all goes according to plan, computers will draw on quantum energy to perform complex calculations in the fastest possible time.
With the ability to process millions of times faster than conventional computers, quantum computers will help humans solve a wide range of problems. Experts predict that quantum computing will help humans decipher many mysteries of biology and evolution, cure cancer and even take steps to reverse climate change.
The global quantum computing market size reached USD 10.13 billion in 2022 and is expected to cross USD 125 billion by 2030, with an expected compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 36.89% during the forecast period 2022 - 2030.
Its projected market size and potential have attracted some of the world's leading technology companies to work in the field of quantum computing, including IBM, Microsoft, Google, Alibaba, Nokia, Intel...
Computer vision
Computer vision is a field of artificial intelligence (AI) and computer science that allows computers and systems to extract useful information from digital images, videos, and other visual inputs. The technology then performs analysis and makes recommendations based on that information. If AI allows computers to think, computer vision allows them to see, observe, and understand.
Computer vision works much like human vision. However, in human vision, seeing images can trigger or create memories and thoughts. To computers, all images are an array of pixels, numeric values that represent shades of red, green, and blue.
Human vision has the advantage of storing and analyzing context. Computer vision needs to be trained to perform these functions in a very short time. A computer vision application system trained for product inspection can analyze thousands of products or processes at the same time, detecting errors or problems that humans may not have noticed.
With the help of this technology, machines can now visually understand their surroundings. One area where advances in computer vision have made significant progress is facial recognition. Apple uses facial recognition algorithms to unlock iPhones. Facebook uses facial recognition to identify users in photos you post online. In China, shopping malls have also introduced facial recognition payment technology, allowing customers to not touch their wallets.
In addition, computer vision is rapidly becoming an indispensable tool in medicine. Deep learning algorithms are showing impressive accuracy in analyzing medical images. Hospitals and universities are using computer vision to predict different types of cancer by examining X-rays and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
Self-driving cars also rely heavily on computer vision to understand their surroundings. Deep learning algorithms analyze video feeds from cameras installed on the vehicle and detect people, cars, road surfaces, and other objects to help the car navigate its environment.
