Prosecution of the case of 'Giving, receiving and brokering bribes' at the Vehicle Inspection Center of Nghe An province

(Baonghean.vn) - The Investigation Police Agency of Nghe An Province Police has decided to prosecute the case of giving, receiving and brokering bribes, prosecute and detain 11 defendants who are leaders and officials of the Nghe An Province Motor Vehicle Inspection Center for the crime of "Receiving bribes".

On February 13, 2023, the Investigation Police Agency of Nghe An Provincial Police announced that the unit had issued a decision to prosecute a criminal case on the crime of "Giving, receiving and brokering bribes" taking place at two facilities 37-01S (located in Vinh city) and 37-02S (in Thai Hoa town) of the Nghe An Provincial Motor Vehicle Inspection Center.

Under the direct direction of Major General Pham The Tung - Director of the Provincial Police; Colonel Nguyen Duc Hai - Deputy Director, Head of the Investigation Police Agency of the Provincial Police, by professional measures, the Investigation Police Agency of Nghe An Provincial Police has grasped information about signs of bribery at the Nghe An Provincial Motor Vehicle Inspection Center (including 02 facilities 37-01S and 37-02S).

From the situation investigation, it was determined that a number of leaders and officers of the two Vehicle Inspection Centers at facilities 37-01S and 37-02S had colluded with a number of outside "brokers" to give, receive and broker bribes from vehicle owners in converting cars to ignore violations in vehicle inspection activities.

After a period of establishing a special case, on February 5, 2023, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police presided over and coordinated with relevant professional units to temporarily detain 13 subjects, including 1 Director, 2 Deputy Directors, 4 heads of inspection and professional departments; 3 inspection staff of the Nghe An Provincial Motor Vehicle Inspection Center and 3 brokers to investigate and clarify the acts of giving, receiving and brokering bribes.

Currently, the case is being further investigated.
