360 production and business establishments in Nghe An violated food safety during Tet

(Baonghean.vn) - During more than 1 month of Tet, Nghe An province established 501 inspection teams to ensure food safety. The inspection results showed that 360 establishments violated.

On February 20, Mr. Pham Ngoc Quy - Head of Nghe An Food Safety and Hygiene Department said that the unit has just summarized the results of implementing food safety work on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2023.

According to Mr. Quy, on the occasion of the Lunar New Year of Quy Mao (from January 1, 2023 to February 10, 2023), the whole province has established 501 inspection teams to ensure food safety. Of which, the provincial level established 5 teams, the district level established 36 teams and the commune level established 460 teams, conducting inspections at food production and business establishments and food service establishments under their management authority in the area.

As a result, 6,206 establishments were inspected and checked, of which 5,846 establishments (94.2%), 360 establishments were in violation. The authorities then fined 128 establishments with a total fine of more than 483 million VND, confiscated 15 products and forced the destruction of 72 products.

Regarding communication work, the whole province organized 8 training sessions and conferences with more than 900 people, 84 talks with 1,625 participants; Directed and encouraged units and establishments to hang 1,106 banners, 519 posters; Distributed 15,412 leaflets... In addition, in some localities, many propaganda activities were organized such as mobile communication by car combined with propaganda of slogans to ensure food safety during Tet, organized competitions and seminars on food safety attracting a large number of people to participate.

Regarding food poisoning, during Tet, there were no food poisoning cases recorded in the province (as in the same period in 2022). However, on February 13, 2023, the province recorded 1 suspected poisoning case due to alcohol containing natural toxins, affecting 5 people, with no deaths.

“The results achieved during the Lunar New Year 2023 have had a strong impact on the awareness of the role and responsibility of authorities at all levels, management agencies, political and social organizations on food safety work, at the same time, creating a strong change for food production and business establishments and consumer awareness of compliance with food safety laws in the province,” Mr. Quy said, adding that in order to continue to effectively implement the goals and tasks of ensuring food safety in the coming time, functional agencies and People's Committees at all levels need to continue to promote the communication of legal regulations on food safety to owners of establishments and people directly involved in the production, processing, and trading of food, catering services and to consumers. Local interdisciplinary inspection teams continue to conduct inspections, checks and strictly handle violations of food safety during the 2023 Spring Festival./.
