Female valedictorian of grade 9 in Nghe An with 'endless passion' for Math

Vo Ha Linh impressed with her slim figure and gentle smile. When asked about the results of the recent provincial excellent student exam, she modestly said that she was a little luckier than her friends.

Since the first days of secondary school, Linh has always loved Math. From her passion for Math and her ability to quickly solve advanced exercises, she has truly affirmed herself in her academic achievements. Linh shared: I do not spend much time studying. Every week, I only have one extra class with my teacher on Sunday morning, and the rest of the time I study at home every evening from 7pm to 10pm. When I start sitting at my desk, the first thing I do is review all the lessons I have learned that day, reread the words my teacher has quickly written down, then study the next day's lesson.

In class or at home, I always sketch a lot on paper to practice memorizing as well as come up with many different solutions to summarize the best and fastest solution. I find this an effective way to study, helping me think well in Math.

Ha Linh’s family lives in Dien Cat commune, more than 6 km from the school, so she still takes the bus to school every day. Her family is also the motivation for Linh to have good academic results as her mother is a teacher, she often encourages, shares and helps her in the learning process.

Ms. Dang Thi Thoa, Linh's mother, said: "The family has also oriented her to study Math from a young age and fortunately she has the ability and also enjoys learning this subject. Her strength is probably being proactive and always serious in studying."

Any teacher or friend of Ha Linh will have the same comment: "Linh has an endless passion for Math". Linh almost always has a Math book in her hand, and whenever she has time, no matter how short, she will open it to study. She studies at school, at home, in books, with friends, and outside of textbooks by learning new knowledge in reference books. Linh shared: "In class, I always give constructive opinions on lessons. I understand what I say, if I answer correctly, I will remember it for a long time, if I answer incorrectly, the teachers will correct it for me, and I will also remember it for a long time."

Teacher Ho Minh Hai - Linh's math tutor shared: Along with her intelligence, Linh is very diligent and studious. Those two factors have contributed to her success. She is never satisfied with the results she has achieved. She studies with all her passion, so she is never bored with dry math numbers.

During her junior high school years, Vo Ha Linh was an excellent student, always getting a perfect score in Math, and her other subjects also had impressive results, all above 9 points. Linh is an example of self-study spirit and inspiration for many students in the school.

These days, teachers and students of Cao Xuan Huy Secondary School are rejoicing with their proud achievements in the recent provincial excellent student exam for grade 9. The school has 34/44 students who participated in the exam and won prizes, including 1 first prize, 6 second prizes, 13 third prizes and 14 consolation prizes. Along with Linh, in this exam, her class 9A has 20 students who achieved provincial excellent student awards.

Teacher Vo Cong Luc - Vice Principal of Cao Xuan Huy Secondary School said: "This is the first time the school has a student who achieved the top grade in Mathematics. This is a source of pride and a shining example for the younger students to follow. This achievement has also left an impression, evaluating the quality of education of the school, creating motivation for teachers to continue to strive to contribute and improve their professional quality."
