Why did Coach Philippe Troussier let U23 Vietnam practice at midnight?
Vietnam U23s will have to adapt to training until noon and midnight, under new head coach Philippe Troussier.
Today, March 1, U23 Vietnam had its first training session under the new coach.Coach Philippe TroussierThe French coach surprised many people when he let his players practice at noon and midnight.
Specifically, in the first week, U23 Vietnam will have 6 training sessions from 10:00 to 12:30, three training sessions from 20:00 to 22:30 and two training sessions from 10:00 to 20:30.
In fact, letting players practice until midnight was once applied by Coach Troussier when leading the U19 Vietnam team more than 3 years ago.

Coach Troussier brought the "specialty" of midnight training from U19 to U23 Vietnam. |
At that time, the French coach explained that this was to help the players concentrate better and avoid distractions. On the other hand, he wanted the players to get used to the match schedule of the 2020 AFC U19 Championship (the tournament was later canceled due to Covid-19).
At first, the players seemed quite unfamiliar with the completely different training schedule compared to when they were at the Club, but after adapting, they all seemed excited.
In the list of 41 U23 Vietnam players gathering this time, 13 people were used to practicing with the French coach at midnight when they were playing for U19 Vietnam.
Of course, after 3 years, they will have to learn to adapt from the beginning like the remaining players and change their living hours, such as having lunch in the early afternoon or returning to the room to shower and rest late at night.
In the immediate future, this training schedule will help players adapt to the rhythm of life at the upcoming Doha Cup 2023 friendly tournament.
According to the plan, U23 Vietnam will train in Hanoi and play some friendly matches. On March 18, the team will move to Qatar to participate in the Doha Cup 2023, where 8 strong Asian teams will compete from March 20 to March 28.
This is an important and useful tour for Coach Troussier and his team in preparation for the 2023 tournaments such as SEA Games (May), U23 Asia qualifiers, ASIAD 19 (also in September), U23 Southeast Asian Championship (December).
