Driving school fees at all centers increased simultaneously.

Since the beginning of 2023, many people have been surprised when learning about car driving courses. Not only have some points in content or regulations on time changed, but tuition for car driving courses of classes B1, B2, C... at driving training centers is also increasing rapidly.

Tuition fees for driving lessons at driving training centers are increasing.

While browsing the internet for information about driving courses, then contacting the enrollment offices of driving training centers in Ho Chi Minh City, Nguyen Trong Hanh (21 years old, living in Ho Chi Minh City) was surprised to hear the tuition "quotes" from the centers' consultants.

"Most driving schools quote a total cost for each course, taking the B2 driving test for about 20 million VND. Only one center in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City quotes a price of nearly 18 million VND if you study during the week, and nearly 20 million VND if you study on the weekend," said Nguyen Trong Hanh.

Similar to Hanh, Mr. Tuan Thanh, 34 years old in Thu Duc City (HCMC) was also surprised when he contacted driving training centers to register for car driving lessons. Having planned to learn to drive a class B2 car since the middle of last year, Mr. Thanh contacted a number of centers to find out. However, due to work and his wife's new baby, Mr. Thanh decided to postpone his driving lesson plan to early 2023.

"I didn't expect that after a few months, the tuition fee would increase so much. Last September, I asked a few centers and was told that the tuition fee for B1 and B2 driving license was only 12-14 million VND. Now, when I contacted them again, they all said it was over 20 million VND. Some places announced that the total cost for the B2 driving license course was up to 23 million VND. Most of them allow payment in installments, however, the tuition fee has increased quite a bit compared to before," said Mr. Tuan Thanh.

In fact, the training fee for each student for each course, driving license test class B1, B2 at driving schools and training centers currently ranges from 17 - 23 million VND. An increase of about 5 - 8 million VND compared to before. For a class C driving course, it can be up to 25 - 27 million VND.

However, this cost may increase, because according to a consultant of a driving training center in Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City, according to the regulations on the content of practical driving training for class B2 cars, the time for practical training on the road is 40 hours, the number of kilometers of practical driving on the road for each student is 810 km. In case the student has completed the required number of practice hours but has not yet traveled the full 810 km, the student will have to rent a car to travel the required distance at a cost of 200,000 VND/driving hour.

This is also the content stipulated in Circular 04/2022/TT-BGTVT issued by the Ministry of Transport.

From 2023, driving students must take an additional driving course in a simulated cabin.

In addition, from 2023, driving students must take an additional driving course in a simulator. In particular, students studying for B1, B2 and C driving licenses will take 3 hours of driving lessons in a simulator/course. Students studying to upgrade their driving licenses will take 1 hour of driving lessons in a simulator.
