Nghe An launches Vietnam Consumer Rights Day 2023

(Baonghean.vn) - On the evening of March 10, at Vinh City walking street, the Department of Industry and Trade coordinated with Vinh City People's Committee and related departments to organize the Launching Ceremony of Vietnam Consumer Rights Day 2023.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Van De - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, representatives of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, Department of Industry and Trade, Nghe An Provincial Youth Union, Vinh City People's Committee and related departments and branches.

The launching ceremony aims to promote propaganda and raise awareness of consumers and businesses on consumer rights protection in the whole province.

In 2023, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has chosen the theme of Vietnam Consumer Rights Day as “Transparent Information – Safe Consumption”. This theme affirms the significance and importance of information for the safety of consumers in the process of choosing, paying for, and using goods and services. This is also a call for the business community to provide accurate, complete, and timely information about products and goods so that consumers are guaranteed their rights in the process of learning and deciding to consume.

Speaking at the ceremony, the leader of Nghe An Department of Industry and Trade emphasized: Nghe An is the province with the largest area in the country; population of over 3.3 million people, ranking fourth in the country; with terrain including coastal, plain, mountainous areas, with a convenient transportation system from railway, sea, air. Trading activities take place regularly and continuously; arising acts of commercial fraud, violations of the law affecting and infringing on the legitimate rights of consumers. Therefore, the requirement to protect consumer rights is especially important, this is the content that Nghe An province has regularly paid attention to and closely directed to sectors and levels in the past time.

In 2022, Nghe An province has strengthened inspection, examination, detection and strict handling of violations that affect consumers. The Market Management force has conducted 2,773 inspections, detected and handled 2,447 violations, with a total fine value of over 8.2 billion VND.

In the field of fighting economic crimes and smuggling: The provincial police have inspected and handled 2,207 cases, 2,465 subjects committing crimes of smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and illegal transportation of goods across the border. The total value of administrative fines is over 5.9 billion VND; 233 criminal cases have been handled.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van De - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized: The launching ceremony in response to Vietnam Consumer Rights Day is an extremely meaningful activity that needs to be continued to be promoted and expanded to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of protecting consumer rights in the whole province.

In the coming time, Nghe An province requires provincial departments, branches, authorities at all levels, and consumers to effectively implement the following contents: Strengthen propaganda work with diverse forms and contents to raise legal awareness on consumer rights protection. Organize a Congress to establish a Consumer Rights Protection Association to put it into regular, regular, and continuous operation to promptly receive information and provide advice on protecting the rights of consumers in the province.
