Minister Dao Hong Lan surveyed medical facilities in Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of March 23, Comrade Dao Hong Lan - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Health visited and worked at a number of medical facilities at commune, district and provincial levels in Nghe An. Also attending were leaders of departments, offices, institutes and units under the Ministry of Health.

Minister Dao Hong Lan and the delegation visited and worked at the Nam Thai Commune Health Station, Nam Dan District. This is a purely agricultural commune, located in the northwest of the district. With an area of 12 km2, the whole commune has 4 hamlets with 4,447 people.

Over the past time, the activities at the Commune Health Station have made many advances and are becoming more and more organized. The work of medical examination, treatment, and primary health care for the people has many positive changes, over 99% of the people have their electronic health records managed; emergency admission and treatment are received promptly. The team of doctors and nurses are enthusiastic and energetic in their work, quickly learn and effectively apply medical examination and treatment software.
After surveying the facilities, equipment and medical examination and treatment activities, the Minister of Health highly appreciated the activities of Nam Thai Commune Health Station; at the same time, he acknowledged the difficulties and proposals of the unit.

In the coming time, Minister Dao Hong Lan suggested that Nam Thai Commune Health Station continue to proactively and effectively perform professional tasks, provide good primary health care for people; especially related to medical examination and treatment; preventive medicine; management of non-communicable diseases right at the grassroots level; and at the same time, implement health criteria in implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Construction for the period 2021 - 2025.

Next, Minister Dao Hong Lan and the delegation visited and worked at Nam Dan District Medical Center. Implementing the Satellite Hospital Project and the Project to improve the capacity of grassroots health care, the quality of medical examination and treatment at the center has been significantly improved, especially with the implementation of many new techniques such as: Artificial kidney, joint injection techniques, joint fluid aspiration, skin patch surgery; opening more general clinics, endocrinology, etc.
Preventive health activities and national health target programs are focused on and tasks are well completed. Covid-19 vaccination and expanded immunization are implemented effectively and safely...

At the meeting with leaders of Nam Dan district and the district health center, Minister Dao Hong Lan listened to recommendations on policy documents; preventive medicine, medical examination and treatment based on the practical operations of a district-level health facility; especially difficulties in recruiting human resources to work in the district and commune.
Accordingly, in just 2 years (2021, 2022), 5 doctors of the District Health Center have resigned, the unit cannot recruit doctors, leading to a shortage of current human resources and not enough in all fields, some positions have to sign contracts with retired staff. The basic income is still low, so the team of doctors and medical staff at the district and commune levels are not confident in their work.

Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Dao Hong Lan acknowledged the new developments of the District Medical Center, as well as the recommendations of the unit. The Minister also requested to continue maintaining the Nam Dan District Medical Center as a satellite of Bach Mai Hospital, contributing to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment for local people. On the other hand, there should be solutions to ensure adequate arrangement of doctors at commune-level medical stations, because currently Nam Dan only has 16/19 medical stations with doctors.
On the same morning, the Ministry of Health's working delegation visited and worked at Nghe An General Friendship Hospital. This is the largest hospital in Nghe An province, recognized by the Ministry of Health and assigned as the final hospital in terms of technical expertise in medical examination and treatment in the North Central region, in the following specialties: Surgery, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics from March 2021.

Over the years, Nghe An General Friendship Hospital has promoted its advantages and overcome difficulties to focus on building and developing the hospital in the direction of developing specialized, multi-disciplinary, multi-specialty medical care, successfully completing assigned tasks.

The hospital is aiming to develop into a high-tech medical center in the North Central region, meeting the medical examination and treatment needs of people in the province and the region, striving to be upgraded to special status by 2025.
Before working with the hospital leaders, Minister Dao Hong Lan directly came to learn about the medical examination and treatment; visited, gave gifts, and encouraged relatives of patients being treated at the Intensive Care Unit.
Through a field survey and listening to the report, the head of the Ministry of Health acknowledged the role of Nghe An General Hospital in medical examination and treatment not only for the province but also for the region and neighboring Laos.

Agreeing with the hospital's orientation to become a Grade I autonomous hospital; developing and improving the quality of human resources, investing in high-tech equipment to better serve medical examination and treatment, Minister Dao Hong Lan said: The Ministry of Health completely agrees, agrees, and supports the implementation of this development strategy in the coming time.
Taking note of the hospital's recommendations to resolve the difficulties and problems it is facing, comrade Dao Hong Lan discussed some specific contents and assigned units under the Ministry to research and respond in the coming time.

In front of the leadership, staff, doctors and nurses of Nghe An General Hospital, Minister Dao Hong Lan shared the hardships and pressures in the past time, especially related to the work of preventing and fighting the Covid-19 epidemic. He hoped that the health sector would continue to unite and overcome difficulties, to ensure the goal of protecting and caring for people's health, while ensuring care for the precious team of doctors and nurses to serve the social security mission of the whole country.
