Nghe An responds to a series of events on World Water Day, World Meteorological Day and Earth Hour campaign

(Baonghean.vn) - Responding to World Water Day, World Meteorological Day, and Earth Hour Campaign 2023, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De assigned the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to preside over and coordinate to urgently carry out tasks according to the guidance and direction of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.

Activities are implemented according to the guidance and direction of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in Official Dispatch No. 1663/BTNMT-TTTT dated March 16, 2023.

Accordingly, in response to the series of events celebrating World Water Day on March 22, World Meteorological Day on March 23, and Earth Hour Campaign, localities and units urgently implement the following contents:

Hang billboards, streamers, and posters made from environmentally friendly materials in public areas, streets, agency headquarters, and other suitable locations.

Strengthening propaganda work on the importance of water resources, weather, climate, forecasting, early warning, impact forecasting, climate change adaptation, greenhouse gas emission reduction, energy saving, and biodiversity conservation.

In particular, step up the mobilization of investment resources, construction of works and projects in the fields of environment, water resources, hydrometeorology, natural disaster prevention and control, biodiversity conservation, climate change; promote and attract green projects, renewable energy projects; strengthen the protection, exploitation and sustainable use of water resources.

There are solutions to raise awareness and practical actions of the community in building and operating early warning systems, forecasting impacts to contribute to reducing natural disaster risks. Strengthening nature-based solutions to global issues of climate, food and water security, people's livelihoods, and effective management of nature reserves.

Restore degraded ecosystems, protect natural landscapes and biodiversity, effectively conserve species and genetic resources, mitigate the impact of socio-economic development on ecosystems; promote the construction of economic models that sustainably use natural resources.

Increase the efficient and economical use of energy, combined with the conservation of energy resources from industrial production, trade and services, transportation, agricultural and fishery production to household consumption. Thereby, balancing the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and aiming for the maximum conversion to renewable energy.

Promote and communicate the implementation of a green, healthy lifestyle, saying no to the illegal consumption and use of wildlife. Mobilize educational institutions and schools to develop environmental education lessons, organize extracurricular activities, and launch emulation movements in response to the Earth Hour Campaign.

The Provincial People's Committee directs the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to proactively advise the Provincial People's Committee and propose competent authorities to consider and decide on related issues in accordance with the provisions of law.
