China is reportedly looking to cut steel production in 2023 for a third straight year. Meanwhile, pent-up demand for steel during the Covid-19 pandemic is also likely to ease in the second half of the year, according to an analysis of China's economic policy agenda for 2023 at key policy meetings in March. Domestic coffee prices today range from 49,200 - 49,600 VND/kg. World coffee prices started the new week with a good upward momentum from last week.

Coffee prices increased sharply last week due to the impact of a trade report from the International Coffee Organization (ICO) predicting that coffee supply will be lower than total demand.

Thanks to the increase last week, coffee started the new week with good prices. Coffee prices today, April 10, in the domestic market fluctuated from 49,200 - 49,600 VND/kg. In particular, coffee prices in Lam Dong province are commonly 49,200 VND/kg, coffee prices in Gia Lai and Dak Nong provinces are commonly 49,500 VND/kg (- 100 VND/kg for some districts in Dak Nong province), coffee prices in Dak Lak province are around 49,600 VND/kg.

Some notable factors that could impact coffee prices this week: The market is waiting for Brazil’s report on coffee supplies in March 2023 – when the previous forecast of coffee volume will decrease. In addition, the real inventory of Robusta coffee is also lower than the same period in 2022.

In the domestic market, the central bank's move to reduce interest rates is said to have created positive sentiment for manufacturing enterprises. However, for export enterprises, the exchange rate difference when the Vietnamese dong increases sharply reduces the profits of export enterprises.
