Presenting gifts to Vietnamese heroic mothers and martyrs' families on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of national reunification

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 17, the Vietnam Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs, the Vietnam Red Cross, the National Information Portal, the People's Committee of Nghe An province and the Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs of the province organized a meeting with families of martyrs and heroic Vietnamese mothers on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of national reunification.

Attending the meeting were comrades: Lieutenant General Hoang Khanh Hung - Chairman of the Association for Supporting Families of Vietnamese Martyrs; Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of a number of provincial departments, branches, and sectors, leaders of Vinh city, Nghi Loc district, Hung Nguyen district and Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, relatives of martyrs.

    At the meeting, delegates expressed their gratitude to the families of martyrs and heroic Vietnamese mothers who have made great contributions and sacrifices for the country's complete reunification. In recent times, the Vietnam Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs has posted information on 27,000 martyrs on its electronic portal; DNA testing organizations have returned the names of 800 martyrs. In addition, it has coordinated with organizations to bring thousands of martyrs' remains back to their homeland.

    The Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs in Nghe An province alone has supported the construction of 485 houses, given 371 savings books, nearly 10,000 gifts, upgraded 6 martyr cemeteries... with a total amount of 47 billion VND.

    Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Bui Dinh Long thanked the Vietnam Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs, the Vietnam Red Cross and the National Information Portal for their attention to policy families in Nghe An province. This is a great source of encouragement for policy families, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, helping families of martyrs to improve their lives.

    On this occasion, the organizations presented gifts to 4 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, each worth 3 million VND, and presented 54 gifts to the families of martyrs, each worth 2 million VND. In addition, 60 million VND was also awarded to support the construction of a house of gratitude for Ms. Le Thi Thuy in Hamlet 3, Hung Dao Commune, Hung Nguyen District, the wife of martyr Le Cao Cuong, who died in Rao Trang.
