On the evening of May 4, the Investigation Police Agency of Dat Do District Police, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province announced that it had issued a decision to prosecute and temporarily detain Huynh Thanh Minh (34 years old) and Huynh Tan Loc (36 years old, Minh's cousin), both residing in Dat Do District, for the act of Resisting a person on official duty.

Previously, at around 1:15 a.m. on May 1, Huynh Thanh Minh was driving a motorbike on National Highway 55. When he reached the road section of Phuoc Thoi Hamlet, Phuoc Long Tho Commune, Minh was stopped by a patrol team of the Traffic Police Department of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province Police and had his alcohol level checked.

Here, Minh was fined by the patrol team for an alcohol concentration exceeding 0.4 milligrams per liter of breath.

At this time, Minh called Huynh Tan Loc and asked the patrol team to ignore the violation but was refused. Angry, Minh snatched back the vehicle registration and punched a traffic police officer in the face. Minh was restrained.

Seeing that, Huynh Tan Loc took a knife out of his pocket and threatened the patrol team and demanded that Minh be released.

Faced with the subject’s recklessness, an officer from the patrol team fired a gun into the air, demanding that Loc put down the knife. Loc then put the knife in his pocket and was subdued.

Both of them, along with the exhibits and vehicles, were handed over to Dat Do District Police for handling.

During the investigation, Huynh Thanh Minh and Huynh Tan Loc admitted all their actions and said that at the time, they were drunk and could not control their actions, leading to the violation.
