(Baonghean.vn) - The contest aims to discover and nurture folk singing talents, and select outstanding performances to participate in the provincial "Folk singing in schools" contest.

On the afternoon of May 5, Vinh City People's Committee held the opening ceremony of the 5th Vinh City Folk Song Singing Contest in Schools in 2023.

This is a meaningful activity in a series of practical activities to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Vinh city's founding and the 235th anniversary of Phoenix Trung Do - Vinh.

Previously, to prepare for the Folk Song Competition for Schools in the city, 140 kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools, and high schools across the city organized competitions at school and cluster levels. Through this, 16 best performances were selected, representing 4 clusters to participate in the final round.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. Hoang Phuong Thao - Head of the Department of Education and Training of Vinh City affirmed the unique cultural values ​​of Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk songs, intangible cultural heritage representing humanity. Through the ups and downs of history, Vi and Giam folk songs have proven their lasting vitality. Vi and Giam melodies are simple, rustic but profound, passionate and have profound educational value, contributing to the cultivation of moral values ​​and lifestyle.

In recent years, to contribute to preserving and promoting the heritage of Nghe An's Vi and Giam folk songs, the teaching and singing of folk songs have been maintained in many schools and from there, many typical talents have been discovered.

Besides, Vi and Giam folk songs are present in cultural and artistic activities of schools, integrated into flag-raising ceremonies at the beginning of the week and in music club activities.

Many schools successfully organize annual folk song competitions in many forms, maintain good club activities, and have many teachers who compose folk song combinations to suit students at each grade level, helping them easily visualize and feel the subtleties of Vi and Giam folk songs when brought to school.

To continue to preserve and promote the typical cultural quintessence of Nghe Tinh folk songs, Vinh city has also maintained singing competitions in schools.

This is a necessary and useful activity, because the smooth and profound folk melodies of Vi and Giam will help students develop collective living skills and singing skills, creating a friendly and positive learning environment for them, making every day at school a happy day, sowing in the souls of generations of students the love of their homeland and country.

"Folk song singing in school" contestVinh city in 2023 is also an opportunity for teachers and students to exchange and learn from each other. Through the contest, it aims to discover and nurture the seeds of folk singing in schools and multiply the love for Vi and Giam folk songs. At the same time, through the city-level contest, the Organizing Committee will serve as a basis for establishing and building a program to participate in the provincial-level contest at the end of May 2023.

According to the rules of the Folk Song Singing Contest in Vinh City Schools, participating teams will compete in singing folk songs, Vi, Giam of Nghe Tinh and folk songs of regions and ethnic minorities in Nghe An province. Of which, 70% of the performances use folk songs, Vi, Giam of Nghe Tinh, 30% are adapted folk songs, folk songs of regions and ethnic minorities in the province. The organizing committee also encourages performances to write new lyrics that are appropriate to the content, know how to use melodies, rhyming lyrics, and precise rhythms associated with the cultural identity and traditions of the locality.

The elaborately staged performances focused on themes praising the Party, Uncle Ho and the homeland, the people of Nghe An, reflecting life, love of work and social activities, teaching and learning activities in schools.
