Nghe An provincial leaders attend Vietnam Day program in Korea

(Baonghean.vn) - On May 21, the Vietnam Day program was held in Gwangju city (Korea).

Attending the program, on the Korean side were Mr. Kang Gijung - Mayor of Gwangju City; Mr. Yoo Min Bong - Secretary General of the Korean Mayors Association. Also attending was Mr. Nguyen Vu Tung - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Korea.

The delegation of Nghe An province attending the program was led by Mr. Nguyen Nam Dinh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council. Also attending were leaders of the Department of Foreign Affairs and related units.

The Vietnam Day program in Gwangju on the occasion of Gwangju Citizens' Day is a unique cultural activity, introducing the beauty of Vietnam's nature and people, its potential in culture, tourism, and international cooperation to a large number of Korean people and vice versa.

Speaking at the program, comrade Nguyen Nam Dinh affirmed: This is a very meaningful activity, a vivid demonstration of cooperation and cultural exchange between Vietnam and Korea, between Nghe An province and Gwangju city; an opportunity to introduce to the people of Gwangju city the traditional culture of Nghe An, especially the folk songs of Nghe Tinh, which have been recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

Vietnam and South Korea officially established diplomatic relations in 1992. Over the past 30 years, the two countries have always attached importance to the cooperative and friendly relationship in all fields and upgraded the relationship to a strategic partnership. Vietnam is currently South Korea's largest trading partner in Southeast Asia.

In 2022, Nghe An province and Gwangju city established and signed a bilateral cooperation agreement; exchanged delegations, organized events to promote investment, trade, tourism, culture, sports, and education.
