According to Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis, the US has three main goals in Ukraine: First, to prevent any escalation of the conflict outside Ukraine; second, to shift the burden of supporting Kiev to European partners; third, to eliminate the possibility of any peace agreement or prevent NATO from having to guarantee Ukraine's security.

Mr. Daniel Davis said that "meaningless arms deliveries" do not meet the national interests of the United States. Specifically, he admitted that the US F-16 fighter jets will not be able to completely change the battlefield situation in Ukraine.

Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis called for Washington to contribute to ending the war in this Eastern European country.

Previously, US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said that the US considers the transfer of F-16s to Ukraine a top priority.

Responding to the move, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko warned Western countries of "enormous risks" if Ukraine is provided with F-16 fighters.

Since Russia launched its special military operation, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has struggled to get the West to provide F-16 fighters, as they fear they could be used on Russian territory, potentially escalating tensions between NATO and Moscow. After saying that Ukraine did not need the fighters by early 2023, President Biden reversed his opposition by signaling to European allies that they would allow the export of F-16s to Ukraine.
