Beer and seafood: Delicious but can cause painful diseases
Beer and seafood contain a lot of purines, if you eat too much it will lead to gout.
Gout(also known as gout) is a common form of arthritis. Patients often suffer from sudden and severe pain in the joints of the toes, fingers, and knees accompanied by redness and swelling. Some severe cases even make it impossible to walk.
The cause of the disease is a disorder of purine metabolism in the kidneys, causing the kidneys to be unable to filter uric acid in the blood. Too high a concentration of uric acid will lead to the formation of uric acid urate crystals, which concentrate in the joints and cause inflammation.

Meals that combine seafood and beer are high risk factors for gout because both foods contain a lot of purines. Absorbing too much purine overloads the kidneys, which cannot be eliminated completely, leading to purine metabolism disorders, thereby increasing uric acid.
According to the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, here are ways to prevent gout:
Reduce purine-containing foods
When people drink beer and eat grilled meat, uric acid levels increase rapidly, easily causing gout. In addition, there is an opinion that gout patients should avoid eating foods with moderate purine levels such as soybeans and peanuts. 100g of peanuts contain 50-100mg of purine, 100g of soybeans contain 27mg of purine.
Eating a lot of seafood and offal with beer is also not good for the body because these ingredients all contain high levels of purines. When people drink beer, the alcohol will be converted into lactic acid, reducing the kidney's ability to excrete uric acid.
Avoid sugary drinks or desserts
Most desserts are high in fructose. When large amounts of fructose are consumed, uric acid levels can increase significantly in a short period of time.
At the same time, fructose also reduces the excretion of uric acid by the kidneys. For gout patients, sugar is the second worst factor after a diet high in purines. Similarly, fructose-sweetened beverages also cause many harmful effects on the body.

Drink enough boiled water to cool
Everyone, especially gout patients, should drink enough boiled and cooled water, up to 2 liters per day. People with kidney stones should drink 3 liters.
In the hot summer, we often sweat a lot. Not drinking enough water will cause blood concentration and increase uric acid concentration. Low water intake also leads to less urine output and uric acid excretion, which can cause acute gout attacks.
Gout patients should drink plenty of water to promote the excretion of uric acid, avoiding the formation of stones.
Choose foods low in purines and maintain a balanced diet
To avoid gout attacks, some patients have strict dietary restrictions, avoiding foods of animal origin such as fish, meat, eggs and dairy products. This is not only difficult to follow, but also reduces the quality of life and leads to malnutrition.
For gout patients, it is not about eating as little as possible, but about eating foods low in purines, trying to maintain a balanced diet and controlling total calories. Milk and eggs are low-purine foods, containing high-quality proteins rich in essential amino acids.
Use air conditioning properly
People with gout should not stay in air-conditioned rooms for too long in the summer. The risk of gout getting worse and getting worse increases if the air-conditioning temperature in the house is too low or the wind is too strong. Urate crystals easily precipitate in low-temperature environments, they will deposit around the joints and cause arthritis.
Do not set the room temperature too low, try to keep it at 26 - 27 degrees Celsius, and make sure the temperature difference between indoors and outdoors is not too large. It is best to turn off the air conditioner half an hour before leaving the room.
