Nghe An authorities dismantled an online football betting ring worth over 80 billion VND.

Previously, through intelligence gathering, the Vinh City Police discovered a very secretive online football betting ring. The ring was run by Gian Tu Cong, who used a master account to organize online football betting on the website "bong88.com”along with several other individuals from within and outside the province.

This is a highly organized gambling ring with many tricks to evade law enforcement. All gambling transactions by this group are conducted online via smartphones.

Recognizing this as a large-scale gambling ring affecting security and order in the area, the Vinh City Police established a special task force to combat and dismantle it. During the investigation, the Vinh City Police identified all the individuals involved in the football betting ring operating in Nghe An province and Ho Chi Minh City.

After a period of implementing investigative measures, the Vinh City Police successfully cracked the case, arresting 9 suspects, all residing in Nghe An province.

Besides Gian Tu Cong, the remaining 8 suspects were also arrested by the police, including 5 individuals residing in Vinh City: Pham Quang Manh (born 1991) residing in Ben Thuy Ward, Nguyen Minh Tai (born 1992) residing in Ben Thuy Ward, Nguyen Van Tai (born 2000) residing in Nghi Kim Commune, Nguyen Xuan Danh (born 2001) residing in Hung Loc Commune, Nguyen Huu Duc (born 1993) residing in Le Mao Ward; and 3 individuals: Dang Khac Duy (born 1989) residing in Giang Son Dong Commune, Do Luong District, Le Van Son (born 1982) residing in Ky Son Commune, Tan Ky District, and Nguyen Van Le (born 1983) residing in Xuan Lam Commune, Hung Nguyen District.

The seized items included 10 mobile phones, along with other evidence related to the case. Initially, authorities have proven that the amount of money transacted by the suspects in gambling through football betting from April 2023 until the time of their arrest was over 80 billion VND.

Currently, the investigation into this case is ongoing and being expanded.
