(Baonghean.vn) - Western analysts say that Russia has repeatedly warned NATO about Ukraine and the alliance's deadlock in the Eastern European country, and now that is gradually becoming a reality.

Jan Oberg, director of the Swedish transnational think tank Peace, told the Global Times that Russia has been warning the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) for decades that expanding the alliance would lead to the kind of deadlock the organization would face in Ukraine.

"Any manifestation of 'incrementalism' and any non-treaty activity will inevitably lead NATO to a 'wall' at some point. And now Ukraine has become such a wall for NATO, despite the fact that senior Western politicians, as well as Russian presidents and foreign ministers have repeatedly warned NATO about it for over 30 years," said analyst Jan Oberg.

Incrementalism is a strategy in which political decision-making is incompatible with the actual political context.

According to analyst Jan Oberg, NATO is showing violations of all the provisions of the treaty every day, by conducting military operations outside the borders of its member states. In addition, according to Article 51 of the UN Charter, military means of NATO countries can only be used for self-defense.

Mr. Jan Oberg also pointed out the violation that NATO introduced the concept of "partners" - countries that are not recognized as members of the alliance. But in reality, those countries are implicitly understood as members of NATO.

Analyst Jan Oberg concludes that, throughout NATO’s 74 years of existence, the alliance’s documents have always stated the desire to live in peace with all other peoples and nations, but NATO has failed to achieve real peace. Instead, NATO has expanded its global influence and preached militarism.
