Yen Thanh proactively prevents and fights fires and explosions during hot season

These are places with high potential for fire and explosion due to the hot weather, which is prolonged and the main business items are flammable and combustible items such as clothes, fabrics, votive paper, etc.

In 2023, a fire broke out in Yen Thanh district at a clothing kiosk inside Bong market, Bao Thanh commune. The Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Department of the Provincial Police Department mobilized 4 fire trucks and dozens of police officers to quickly arrive at the scene and put out the fire in time, preventing the fire from spreading to surrounding kiosks.

Yen Thanh district currently has many traditional markets. Right from the beginning of the hot season, the district has directed the communes and market management boards to deploy solutions to prevent fires and explosions. For example, the wholesale market (Hom market) in Hop Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district is large-scale, with nearly 500 traders. The market supplies goods to many communes in the area such as Hong Thanh, Phu Thanh, Tho Thanh, Nhan Thanh, Hoa Thanh...

Mr. Hoang Trung Du - Head of Hom Market Management Board said: To proactively implement fire prevention and fighting plans according to the "4 on-site" motto, the Market Management Board has established a fire prevention and fighting team of 5 people, fully equipped with necessary equipment such as fire extinguishers, gas cylinders and hand tools such as hammers, crowbars, pliers... The fire fighting force is regularly trained by the authorities in basic fire fighting techniques, ready to respond when a fire or explosion occurs.

Hom Market is also equipped with over 30 fire extinguishers and 8 fire hoses located throughout the market areas. A security camera system monitors fire prevention and fighting, and in particular, proactively manages water resources, such as a water tank of over 300 m3, along with a pump system ready to fight fires.

Mr. Hoang Manh Linh - Secretary and Chairman of Hop Thanh Commune People's Committee added: The commune has directed the Market Management Board to regularly propagate, urge and remind traders to strictly implement regulations on fire prevention and fighting. During the hot season, the Market Management Board and the police force inspect and remind traders to be careful in using electricity, arrange goods neatly, and regularly check the electrical wiring system to prevent electrical short circuits.

At Roc market in Trung Thanh commune, there are over 120 traders doing business and trading with many items for sale at the market that are prone to fire and explosion. Major Nguyen Thac Vinh - Head of Trung Thanh commune police said: To ensure fire safety, the electrical grid system in the market is covered with "chicken intestines", the market area is equipped with 16 fire extinguishers, before the market closes, traders are required to turn off the circuit breaker, the market also prepares a water tank and a pump system, in case of fire incidents.

According to the plan in 2023, Roc market will be newly built with "socialized" capital of over 20 billion VND, invested in spaciousness with a modern fire prevention system.

The representative of Yen Thanh District People's Committee said: Yen Thanh District currently has over 20 traditional markets. To ensure fire prevention and fighting at the markets, the district directs communes to strengthen propaganda and dissemination of laws and knowledge of fire prevention and fighting for business households. Along with that, strictly implement regulations on fire prevention and fighting safety.

Agencies should focus on strictly managing goods that are prone to fire and explosion; controlling well all types of fire and heat sources, fire and heat generating equipment and tools. Checking and reminding traders to arrange and place goods in counters, stalls, and kiosks within the prescribed range; not letting goods spread out or encroach on aisles; ensuring safe distances for fire prevention and fighting and escape conditions in case of fire or explosion.

In addition, before the hot season, Yen Thanh District Police conducted periodic inspections of fire safety work for 122 establishments in the district, made 127 inspection records; made 08 records of violations of fire safety regulations, imposed a fine of 110 million VND; organized 122 establishments to sign a commitment to ensure fire safety. Strictly maintained the regime of command duty, on-duty duty, on-duty investigation and handling of fires and explosions, directly received and processed information on fire alarms and rescue.

From the beginning of 2023 to now, Yen Thanh District Police have also participated in fighting 02 fires in Yen Thanh District, guiding and directing the Police of communes and towns to advise the Chairman of the People's Committee to develop and practice fire fighting plans for 31 models of inter-family fire safety groups. Organized 140 fire prevention and fighting propaganda sessions at all levels of schools and hamlets with 50,938 participants, including students, household heads, and families combining production and business.

In addition, propaganda and mobilization for 13,240 people to install and use the "114 fire alarm" application and pay attention to the "Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department" account on Zalo application.
