Former Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan passed away at 7:05 a.m. on June 21, 2023 at 108 Central Military Hospital.

Information from the Central Committee for the Protection of Cadres' Health said that after a period of illness, comrade Vu Khoan (born in 1937), former Secretary of the Party Central Committee, former Deputy Prime Minister, despite being treated wholeheartedly by the Party, the State, professors and doctors, and his family, due to old age and poor health, he passed away at 7:05 a.m. on June 21, 2023 at the 108 Central Military Hospital.

The visitation, memorial service and burial ceremony of comrade Vu Khoan will be announced later.

Comrade Vu Khoan, born on October 7, 1937, in Phu Xuyen district, Hanoi

Comrade Vu Khoan was a member of the Party Central Committee, 7th, 8th, 9th terms; Secretary of the Party Central Committee, 9th term; National Assembly Delegate, 11th, 12th terms; Deputy Prime Minister (August 2002 - June 2006).

He has held the positions of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs (1990), Minister of Trade (2000); Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Foreign Economic Relations, Chairman of the National Committee on APEC (2002).

He was awarded many noble titles by the Party and State: First-class Independence Medal, First-class Labor Medal, Second-class Resistance War Medal against America for National Salvation, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Title, 60-year Party membership badge in November 2021. Comrade Vu Khoan was awarded by the Governments of various countries: Friendship Medal of Peoples (former Soviet Union), First-class Freedom Medal (Laos), and Rising Sun Medal (Japan)./.
