The prolonged heat has reduced the amount of water flowing from the source, and the water level of the Lam River in some places has dropped very low. The section flowing through Thanh Chuong district has an alarmingly low water level, with many sandbanks appearing in the middle of the river. Mr. Nguyen Dinh Nhung - a fishing household living on a boat moored on the river bank in Ngoc Son commune (Thanh Chuong) said: In previous years, the river dried up, but his family's boat still floated on the water. This year, the boat has been stranded for many days in the middle of the river, and water for daily use has to be transported far away.
