(Baonghean.vn) - Just because of a conflict over asking for gas late at night, Khanh used a knife to stab two people to death.

On June 23, Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened a trial for defendant Lu Van Khanh (20 years old), residing in Chau Hoi commune, Quy Chau district, for the crime of "Murder".

According to the indictment, at about 2:10 a.m. on August 12, 2022, Khanh and a group of friends picked up a friend who was working far away and met a group of young men in Chau Nga commune, Quy Chau district. Because one of their motorbikes ran out of gas, the group of young men from Chau Nga commune asked Khanh's group for gas.

Because Khanh's group had no gas, the other group borrowed a gas pump. After pumping the gas, Hoang Van H. and Lu Van S. returned to return the borrowed equipment, and the two sides had a conflict over the gas request.

S. punched Khanh and his friend. Seeing that, Khanh and his friend also fought back. After being stopped by everyone, the two groups stopped to talk to each other.

A moment later, Hoang Van H. used a belt to wrap around Khanh's chest. Because Khanh resisted, the belt slid up to his neck, making it difficult for Khanh to breathe.

At that time, Khanh said, "I respect you guys very much, don't do that." Then, Khanh took out a switchblade and said, "Don't overdo it," then escaped from H's belt.

After that, the two groups continued to fight. During the fight, Khanh took a knife and stabbed H., causing him to fall to the ground.

Later, because S. kicked him, Khanh took a knife and slashed the victim in the back, causing him to collapse on the motorbike.

Two victims died of acute circulatory failure with a wound that punctured their hearts. Khanh also injured two other young men.

After committing the crime, Khanh threw the knife into the Hieu River and returned home. Not long after, Khanh was discovered by the police and detained for emergency purposes.

At the trial, the defendant admitted to the crime as charged in the indictment. Khanh stated that the conflict between the two parties was only related to asking for gasoline. The defendant stated that he did not intend to kill anyone but that his actions were in self-defense, leading to the random stabbing.

Considering that in this case the victims were also partly at fault; after the incident, the defendant influenced his family to partially compensate for the victims' losses, the defendant's grandparents were people with revolutionary contributions who were awarded the Resistance Medal, the Panel of Judges sentenced Lu Van Khanh to life in prison for the crime of"Killing".
