By July 8, the whole province had planted 70,000 hectares, most of which was summer-autumn rice. Winter-spring rice is being planted in mountainous districts, however, because many places do not have water, the land cannot be prepared for planting.

"The crop planting season ends in July, so if there is no heavy rain this July, many localities will not be able to complete the planting plan, which means thousands of hectares will have to be left fallow," said Mr. Nguyen Tien Duc.
