Nam Dan District People's Committee officially informs about the forest fire in Thuong Tan Loc
(Baonghean.vn) - The People's Committee of Nam Dan district issued a press release about the forest fire in Thuong Tan Loc commune, Nam Dan district on July 12.
According to this announcement, at 10:00 a.m. on July 12, 2023, a forest fire broke out in Thuong Tan Loc commune, Nam Dan district. After receiving the news, the District People's Committee mobilized functional forces and people to control the fire and by about 3:00 a.m. on July 13, 2023, the entire fire was controlled.
The fire site is at Block 01, Sub-area 1018, Phu Loc hamlet, Dai Loc, Thuong Tan Loc commune, Nam Dan district, Nghe An province. The forest owners include the Nam Dan Special-use Forest Management Board; and the forest is assigned to households.
According to initial preliminary statistics, the burned forest area is about more than 10 hectares, including about 4 hectares of acacia, eucalyptus, and pine forests, the rest is grassland and reeds.
Local authorities and functional agencies mobilized forces to clear firebreaks, using tools such as tree branches, knives, fire extinguishers, and blowers to extinguish the fire. Informed and mobilized people to evacuate areas near the forest, and arranged forces to guard houses to prevent the fire from spreading to people's homes. However, due to hot weather, steep mountainous terrain, and proximity to houses, it was difficult to mobilize forces.
The forces participating in the fire fighting included militia, forest rangers, Nam Dan Special Use Forest Management Board officers, communal officials, the District Fire Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue Command Board, the District Military Command Board, military units stationed in the area, the police and local people. The total number of people was about 700 (not including the force guarding the houses of the people).
The cause of the fire is currently being investigated by authorities.
After extinguishing the fire, the People's Committee of Nam Dan district assigned the militia force of Thuong Tan Loc commune, the Nam Dan special-use forest management board, the district military command, the district police and local forces to continue guarding, thoroughly handling the remaining embers, investigating the cause, and making preliminary statistics of the damage caused by the fire.
