Nghe An Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy met with the Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Assembly of the Lao PDR
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of July 13, during the working program in the Lao PDR, comrade Thai Thanh Quy - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation met with the Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Assembly of the Lao PDR.

Attending the meetings were Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Lao PDR Nguyen Ba Hung. The delegation included members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee: Le Duc Cuong - Head of the Provincial Party Organization Committee; Nguyen Thi Thu Huong - Head of the Provincial Party Propaganda Department; members of the Provincial Party Executive Committee: Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Dinh Hung - Chief of the Provincial Party Office; Pham Hong Quang - Director of the Department of Planning and Investment; Trinh Thanh Hai - Director of the Department of Finance; Colonel Nguyen Cong Luc - Commander of the Provincial Border Guard Command. Also attending were comrade Tran Khanh Thuc - Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs and representatives of the Department of Tourism.

Meeting with Comrade Son-xay Si-phan-don - Politburo member, Prime Minister at the Prime Minister's Office; Comrade Say-som-phon Phom-vi-han - Politburo member, Chairman of the National Assembly at the National Assembly House, Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee Thai Thanh Quy sent respectful greetings and best wishes to the leaders of the Lao Party and State.
Nghe An is proud to be the homeland of beloved President Ho Chi Minh - who, together with President Kaysone Phomvihane and generations of previous leaders, laid the foundation for the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos. It is also the province with the longest border with the Lao PDR in Vietnam. Therefore, at the meetings, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Thai Thanh Quy affirmed that the province always deeply understands that strengthening the friendship and cooperation with Lao localities is a particularly important political task, always given top priority.

Comrade Thai Thanh Quy reported to the leaders of the Government and the National Assembly of the Lao PDR on the delegation's work program and the province's recent socio-economic development achievements, as well as the cooperative relationship with Lao provinces in the fields of economy, trade, health, education and training, agriculture;...
In each step of development of Nghe An province and development of cooperative relations with localities of Laos, comrade Thai Thanh Quy respectfully thanks the Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Assembly of the Lao PDR for their special attention, leadership, encouragement and support.

Informing about the socio-economic development situation and development orientations in the coming time, the leaders of the Government and National Assembly of the Lao PDR and the Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee hope that the comrades will continue to strongly support to promote cooperation programs between Nghe An and the provinces of the neighboring country in many fields.
In particular, the Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee proposed that Prime Minister Son-xay Siphan-don and National Assembly Chairman Say-som-phon Phom-vi-han promote the early implementation of the Vientiane - Paksan (Bolikhamxay) - Thanh Thuy Border Gate (Nghe An) - Hanoi expressway project.

When the highway connecting the two capitals is formed, it will not only solve the traffic problem and develop the East-West economic corridor, but also contribute to consolidating and deepening the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties and two States of Vietnam and Laos.
The leaders of the Government and National Assembly of the Lao PDR highly appreciated the close cooperation between Nghe An and 7 Lao provinces and soon the 8th locality, Vientiane Capital. This is a cooperation not only at the local level but also demonstrates the special friendship between Laos and Vietnam.

Agreeing with the proposals of the Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, the Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Assembly of the Lao PDR said that the Vientiane - Hanoi expressway project has been of great interest to the leaders of the two countries and has been discussed many times. Currently, Laos has made a decision to implement it and is calling on businesses to implement it under the BOT model.
The Lao Prime Minister also asked the leaders of Nghe An province to study the construction of a border economic zone between Laos and Vietnam; upgrade border gates; and study the characteristics of 18 Lao provinces to cooperate in development in accordance with Nghe An's strengths and potential.

In addition, Prime Minister Son-xay Siphan-don also suggested that the two sides promote cooperation in the field of tourism; support and expand economic and trade cooperation to contribute to realizing the agreed goal of two-way trade turnover increasing by 10-15% annually, first of all reaching the target of 1.5 billion USD in 2023; at the same time, with the international trade agreements that Vietnam participates in, the Prime Minister hopes that Nghe An will be a bridge for Lao agricultural products to be exported to international markets.


The Prime Minister of the Lao PDR also hopes that Vietnamese essential goods in general and Nghe An in particular will be more present in the Lao market; this is one of the directions to help Laos stabilize prices.
Thanking the invitation of Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy, Prime Minister Son-xay Siphan-don and National Assembly Chairman Say-shom-phon Phom-vi-han said they will arrange to visit Nghe An province at an appropriate time.
