Russian President Vladimir Putin said on July 16 that Russian experts will examine Western-made weapons captured by the country's military during the repelling of Ukraine's counteroffensive.

In a press interview, Mr Putin was asked what Russia would do with the Western armor it had seized. “There is a phrase called reverse engineering,” Mr Putin said.

While stressing that both Russia and Western countries have modern equipment, President Putin made it clear that Moscow has no intention of passing up the opportunity to test Western technology. “If there is an opportunity to look inside these weapons and see if there is anything we can apply, then why wouldn’t we do it?”

However, President Putin still highly appreciated Russian weapons, especially the T-90 main battle tank. "This is the best tank in the world and this comment is not an exaggeration," Mr. Putin emphasized.

Mr Putin's statement came after videos circulated on social media showing Russian soldiers standing in front of a captured US-made Bradley infantry fighting vehicle.

Last week, Dmitry Rogozin, the former head of the Russian space agency Roscosmos and now head of the Tsar's Wolves military-technical center, announced that the military had captured a British-supplied long-range Storm Shadow missile. He said the missile was only partially destroyed on impact, making it a source of useful technical information.
