(Baonghean.vn) - According to the results of the high school graduation exam, Nghe An province has shown remarkable progress in several subjects, especially English and Civic Education.
According to the Department of Education and Training's summary, many subjects saw an increase in average scores and perfect scores (10 out of 10).
Accordingly, the number of students achieving a perfect score of 10 this year increased from 239 (in 2022) to 591, concentrated in 7 out of 9 subjects. The subject with the most perfect scores was Civic Education, with 500 students. In addition, History had 37 students, Foreign Language 36, Chemistry 8, Biology 6, Physics 3, and Geography had 1 student who achieved a perfect score.
The only female student to achieve a perfect score of 10 in Geography was Phan Diệu Linh from Diễn Châu 4 High School.

Foreign languages also showed remarkable progress, with the average score in Nghe An province rising from 4.56 last year to 5.003 this year. The increase in scores and the number of perfect scores (from 10 to 36) is due to the entire sector's vigorous implementation of the foreign language project (issued in 2020) with numerous solutions aimed at promoting and improving quality.
Previously, Nghe An province had over 1,000 students exempted from the foreign language exam thanks to their IELTS certificate results. These candidates were awarded a perfect score of 10 in the foreign language subject.

In Civics Education, the number of students achieving a perfect score of 10 increased from 79 to 500 in 2023. This places Civics Education 7th nationwide in terms of perfect scores. Innovations in Civics Education teaching have helped students apply their learned knowledge and gain experience in solving practical problems, aligning with the subject's assessment objectives.
In other subjects such as Literature, History, and Biology, scores also increased compared to previous years. The remaining subjects remained stable. There were 17 candidates in the province who received failing grades. Initial statistics show Nghe An ranked 22nd out of 63 provinces and cities in terms of high school graduation exam results.

Regarding the initial assessment of the 2023 high school graduation exam results, Mr. Thai Van Thanh – Director of the Nghe An Department of Education and Training – stated: In recent years, Nghe An has been resolute in implementing the model of ensuring educational quality in high schools and assigning responsibility to each school. Ranked 22nd, Nghe An maintains stability in quality and has shown significant progress in some subjects. The quality of education in schools in the delta region continues to be affirmed, with many high-scoring students, valedictorians, and salutatorians in various subjects and subject combinations coming from district schools.
However, given the unique characteristics of a province with many mountainous districts, especially the five highest mountainous districts, improving overall quality remains challenging and requires further efforts from schools, teachers, and students. Looking ahead, based on the results of the 2023 high school graduation exam, the Department will continue to compare average scores across school years, analyze entrance scores, quality assessment scores, etc.
From there, teaching and learning should be organized in a way that is tailored to the students' needs, gradually raising their proficiency from recognition to comprehension, application, and higher-level application. At the same time, appropriate methods should be used to encourage and inspire students to learn effectively.
