Nghe An Women's Union strives to establish over 2,000 models of 'turning waste into useful things'

(Baonghean.vn) - By 2027, the Provincial Women's Union strives to establish over 2,000 models of "turning waste into useful work" through scrap collection activities and waste classification models at source to raise funds for social security activities.

On the morning of July 19, under the chairmanship of comrade Nguyen Van De - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial People's Committee held a meeting to listen to and give opinions on the Project "Propaganda, mobilization, support for women to participate in classifying and treating waste at source and limiting the use of plastic bags in Nghe An province in the period of 2023-2027" and the Project "Propaganda, mobilization, support for women to build OCOP products, promote and connect the consumption of goods to contribute to the development of the local economy in the period of 2023-2027".

The implementation of the Project "Propaganda, mobilization, and support for women to participate in classifying and treating waste at source and limiting the use of plastic bags in Nghe An province in the period of 2023-2027" aims to continue promoting the role and responsibility of the Women's Union at all levels and female cadres and members to contribute to the environmental field, minimizing the amount of waste generated in residential areas, especially in rural areas; effectively implementing the campaign "building a family of 5 no, 3 clean", contributing to the construction of new rural areas.

Thereby, equipping information, knowledge, changing the behavior of women's union members and people in environmental protection, mobilizing a large number of women and people in the whole province to actively participate.

The project sets a target that by 2027, 35-40% of member households and women will classify and treat household waste at source, dispose of waste properly and limit the use of plastic bags. At the provincial level, 5 safe vegetable production models will be developed using compost from organic waste through source waste classification; replicated throughout the province, with at least 1 model in each district.

At the provincial level, 5 models were built to replace plastic bags in daily life, with at least 1 model built in each district, city, and town. 90% of the Association's facilities built at least 1 model to classify and treat waste at source, limiting the use of plastic bags.

At least 20,000 member families, women, and children in difficult and disadvantaged circumstances have been helped with breeding animals, health insurance cards, and orphans have been sponsored through the model of "Turning waste into breeding animals,...

In order to develop, consolidate and improve the effectiveness of economic development models, especially collective economic models led by women, associated with the development of OCOP products; support the development of products with women participating in the OCOP Program to ensure technical standards and regulations, and at the same time help OCOP product owners connect to product consumption; arouse the creative start-up spirit of members and women, contributing to the implementation of socio-economic development goals of Nghe An province and the implementation of gender equality goals.

Specific objectives of the project by 2027:

- Mobilize 50% of cooperatives and 30% of cooperative groups established with the support of the Women's Union with suitable products to participate in the OCOP program;

- Support 30 products led by/with women participating in the OCOP Program with a rating of 3 stars or higher;

- Support the realization of 30 startup ideas with OCOP products led by/with women.

- Support the construction of 04 stores to display, connect and consume OCOP products for women members in Nghe An province.

- Support participation in e-commerce platforms for 50 OCOP products of enterprises, cooperatives, and cooperative groups with women participating in management or having a large number of female workers; of households headed by women with business registration.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De emphasized that the two projects chaired by the Provincial Women's Union are extremely important in protecting the environment and developing OCOP products, thereby contributing to the socio-economic development of the province.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the drafting agency to review the data in the project approval outline with the data in the unified project. At the same time, clearly decentralize the implementation contents at the provincial, district and commune levels. Integrate capital sources of National Target Programs into the project implementation.

The Provincial Women's Union needs to absorb the delegates' comments to complete the content for submission to the Provincial People's Committee for approval.
