Since the beginning of July 2023, many households have gone to their gardens to harvest wild pears for sale. According to people in Huoi Giang 2 village, this year's wild pear crop is good because the climate here has frequent rain and fog, which is favorable for trees to grow well. Photo: Dao Tho

The wild pear trees are laden with ripe fruit. The Mong elders say that wild pear trees have been with the Mong people since the village was founded. When old trees die, new trees grow, and some others are brought back by the people to plant, so there are wild pear trees all over the village. Photo: Dao Tho

Wild pears have the characteristics of being both cool and sweet when eaten, and good for the digestive system, so they are very popular with consumers. According to Mr. Mua Ba Vu in Huoi Giang 3 village, people mainly grow wild pears for food, and only sell them when buyers have demand. Therefore, expecting income from wild pears is not worth much. There are times when they are only sold for about 7,000 VND/kg. Photo: Dao Tho
