Russian President believes new multipolar world order will be fairer and more democratic
(Baonghean.vn) - On July 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed hope that the new multipolar world order will be fairer and more democratic, in which Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America will assume their worthy roles.

In the article titled “Russia and Africa: Joint Efforts for Peace, Progress and a Successful Future”, the Russian leader wrote: “Major centers of political and economic power and influence are emerging in the world. They are asserting themselves more and more firmly, demanding to be taken seriously. We are sure that the new multipolar world order, which we can already see clearly, will be more just and democratic. And there is no doubt that Africa, together with Asia, the Middle East and Latin America, will take its rightful place in it and finally free itself from the bitter legacy of colonialism and neocolonialism...".
Mr Putin argued that Moscow has never tried to impose on its African partners its own ideas about internal structures, forms and methods of governance, development goals and ways to achieve them.
“We always respect the sovereignty of African countries, their traditions and values, their desire to independently decide their own destiny and freely build relations with partners,” he said.
According to the Russian President, the partnership between Russia and Africa has deep and strong roots. At the same time, this relationship "has always been characterized by stability, trust and goodwill."
According to Mr. Putin, Moscow has consistently supported African peoples in their struggle for liberation from colonial oppression and has assisted in the development of their states, strengthening their sovereignty and defense capabilities.
In addition, according to Mr. Putin, much has been done to create a solid foundation for the economies of countries. In the mid-1980s, with the participation of Soviet experts, more than 330 large infrastructure and industrial facilities were built in Africa, including power plants, irrigation systems, industrial and agricultural enterprises, which Mr. Putin affirmed are operating successfully to this day.
The Russian leader said that Moscow highly values the valuable assets of friendship and cooperation, the tradition of trust and mutual support between Russia and African countries. He concluded: “We are brought together by a common desire to form a system of relations based on the priority of international law, respect for national interests, indivisible security and recognition of the central coordinating role of the United Nations.”
