Prosecuted 2 subjects for human trafficking in mountainous Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - Ky Son District Police have just initiated a case and prosecuted Luong Thi Toan (born in 1983) and Moong Thi Nghe (born in 1990), both residing in Chieu Luu Commune, Ky Son District, for the crime of Human Trafficking.
Previously, around the beginning of July 2023, Ky Son District Police received a complaint from Ms. XTD (born in 1989), residing in Xieng Thu village, Chieu Luu commune, about her being taken to China and sold by two subjects, Moong Thi Nghe and Luong Thi Toan.
Around March 2018, Luong Thi Toan (who was married in China at the time) returned to Vietnam to visit her family. During her days in her hometown, Toan met Moong Thi Nghe, then asked Toan to contact her when she found someone to marry in China to bring her over. If the deal was successful, Nghe would receive a commission. Hearing that, Moong Thi Nghe agreed.
Taking advantage of Ms. XTD's difficult circumstances and her desire to find a job to improve her family's life, Moong Thi Nghe approached Ms. D. With sweet words, drawing a vision of "easy work, high salary" in a foreign country, Moong Thi Nghe enticed and persuaded Ms. D. to agree to go to China to "work". However, in reality, she sold Ms. D. to China to be her wife.
Seeing that the "prey" had "taken the bait", Moong Thi Nghe called Luong Thi Toan to inform her and was instructed by Toan on how to take Ms. D. to China.
After discussing and reaching an agreement with Luong Thi Toan, Moong Thi Nghe took Ms. XTD by bus to Mong Cai City, Quang Ninh Province, then illegally crossed the border into China. There, both were picked up by Luong Thi Toan and her husband and taken home. A few days later, Luong Thi Toan and her husband sold Ms. D. to a Chinese man as his wife. Moong Thi Nghe received more than 20 million VND from Toan and his wife.
After collecting all documents and evidence, Ky Son District Police arrested Luong Thi Toan and Moong Thi Nghe for human trafficking.
Currently, Ky Son District Police have initiated a case and prosecuted Luong Thi Toan and Moong Thi Nghe for human trafficking; issued an order to temporarily detain Luong Thi Toan for 4 months; and applied a measure prohibiting Moong Thi Nghe from leaving her place of residence (because she has a child under 36 months old).
