(Baonghean.vn) - Realizing that the largest reservoir in Vinh City is heavily polluted, young people from Nghe An joined hands to collect waste at the regulating lake, both to restore a green environment and to ensure stable drainage during the approaching rainy and stormy season.
Clip: QAThe regulating lake is the largest reservoir in Vinh city, with a land area of 53 hectares and a water surface area of 40 hectares, located at the end of the Bac canal, in the low-lying area bordering Hung Loc commune, Hung Hoa commune and Hung Dung ward. However, this large regulating lake is currently heavily polluted. Photo: QAThe lake surface is covered with garbage, especially plastic bags and plastic bottles, mostly due to people gathering at the lake to eat and drink, littering the lake, causing environmental pollution, ruining the urban beauty, and affecting water drainage during the approaching storm season. Photo: QAOn the afternoon of August 7, nearly 20 young people currently studying at Vinh University, Vinh Medical University, Huynh Thuc Khang High School and Vinh University High School for the Gifted joined hands to clean the regulating lake, hoping to return a clean living environment to the people. Photo: QAThe young people together wore protective gear and waded into the dark lake to collect trash. Their actions received much admiration from the community. Photo: QAWhile cleaning up the trash, despite encountering many dangerous objects such as needles and broken glass, the children still persevered and worked tirelessly. Photo: QADang Thong Hung, a member of Nghe An Xanh group, said: Half a year ago, we cleaned up the trash at this lake, however, the awareness of some people, especially young people, is still very poor, and they still litter the lake. We just want the group's actions to spread so that the community can join hands to protect the environment. Photo: QAAfter being collected, the waste will be piled up neatly for environmental workers to transport to the landfill according to regulations. It is known that in the coming time, this Gen Z group will continue to collect waste and clean up the environment at polluted spots around Vinh City and surrounding areas. Photo: QA
