3 people admitted to bringing guns to the mountain to shoot birds but were found to have grown 900 marijuana plants.
When the police discovered that they were carrying fertilizer and lead pellets up the mountain, the three men claimed that they were going to shoot birds. But later they admitted to illegally growing marijuana.
On August 11, the Investigation Police Agency of Ham Tan District (Binh Thuan Province) said that they were detaining three men to continue investigating the act of growing marijuana in the Be Mountain area.
Previously, at 5:00 p.m. on August 9, Tan Duc Commune Police, Ham Tan District received a report from Thu Duc Prison about 3 people trespassing into the restricted area of Be Mountain, Sub-camp 4 of this prison.
These people include: Nguyen Thanh Hung (45 years old, residing in Long An province); Dinh Ngoc Hai (26 years old) and Le Hung Dung (52 years old, both residing in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province).

Through inspection, the authorities discovered that this group was carrying about 15 kg of fertilizer, and Nguyen Thanh Hung was holding a gun that shot lead bullets and said he used it to hunt birds.
Noticing many unusual points, Ham Tan District Police took these 3 people to headquarters for clarification. Here, they confessed to growing marijuana in the above area.
By the afternoon of August 10, Ham Tan District Police and Forest Rangers, in coordination with relevant units and Thu Duc Prison, arrived at the scene and recorded 900 cannabis plants ranging from 20 cm to 40 cm high, grown by these 3 people on an area of about 0.2 hectares.
Ham Tan district police have temporarily detained the evidence for investigation.
