Along with the birth of the national police force, over the past 78 years, under the leadership of the Central Public Security Party Committee, the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security, local Party committees and authorities, and the support and assistance of the people, the Nghe An police force has gradually grown and matured in all aspects.
During the years of resistance against French colonialism, Nghe An Police effectively deployed all aspects of wartime work, provided human and material support, contributing to the Dien Bien Phu Victory that "resounded throughout the five continents and shook the world". Together with the army and people of the whole country, the resistance against French colonialism was victorious. During the resistance against American imperialism, although it was a key area where the enemy focused on sabotage, Nghe An Police force was resourceful and brave, together with the government and people, well protecting security and order in the area. With the spirit of "all for the frontline, all to defeat the American invaders", Nghe An Provincial Police made an important contribution to the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country.

At the same time, proactively launched high-point campaigns to attack and suppress crimes, effectively combated all types of crimes; investigated and solved many major cases and cases that resonated throughout the country. With the spirit of "Serving the People",In recent times, following the direction of the Ministry of Public Security, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, the Nghe An Police force has proactively and synchronously implemented solutions to accelerate the implementation of Project 06/CP. Nghe An Police is one of the localities nationwide that has successfully completed the tasks of cleaning up population data; completing the issuance of chip-embedded citizen identification cards to 100% of eligible citizens; organizing guidance and setting up electronic identification accounts for people.
In addition, responding to and implementing the policy of supporting houses for the poor and people with housing difficulties in the province, especially from the important results, outstanding effectiveness and within the overall successful and synchronous implementation of the Project "Border communes clean of drugs", the Ministry of Public Security and Nghe An Provincial Police have mobilized support to build 2,820 houses for the poor and people with housing difficulties in 6 border districts of Nghe An province. Of which: 1,420 houses from the source mobilized and supported by the Ministry of Public Security are distributed in 27 border communes of Ky Son, Tuong Duong, Que Phong, Con Cuong, Anh Son, Thanh Chuong districts. 1,000 houses from the source mobilized and supported by the Provincial Police and 400 houses from the source support of the Economic Police Department - Ministry of Public Security.
Nghe An is one of the leading provinces in the country in terms of models, typical in the movement of All people protecting national security with 119 models, of which 13 models have been commended and replicated nationwide by the Ministry of Public Security. These days, many localities in the province are celebrating the 18th anniversary of "All people protecting national security day" (August 19, 2005 - August 19, 2023). Thereby, creating a vibrant atmosphere for each person to make efforts with the Party Committee and the government to well implement the Party's guidelines and the State's laws and policies; actively participate in the fight against and prevention of all types of crimes, maintaining security and order in the area.
In localities such as Nghi Thu ward (Cua Lo town), Nam Giai commune (Que Phong district), Chau Binh commune (Quy Chau district), Cam Son commune (Anh Son district)... leaders of the Ministry of Public Security and leaders of the Provincial Police sent congratulations and highly appreciated the achievements of the localities in the work of building the movement of All people protecting national security in the past time.
During the 78-year history of building, fighting and growing, generations of Nghe An Police have continued to foster the noble traditions of "Forgetting oneself for the country, serving the people". In recognition of these great contributions, Nghe An Police has been honored by the Party and State with 2 Ho Chi Minh Medals; 2 Independence Medals; 21 collectives and 9 individuals were awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces; hundreds of collectives and individuals were awarded Medals and many other noble awards. Nghe An Police has been honored to receive the Excellent Emulation Flag from the Prime Minister for 8 consecutive years (2015 - 2022) and for 7 consecutive years (2016 - 2022) as the leading unit in the entire police force nationwide in administrative reform.
In the coming time, the entire Party Committee and the Nghe An Public Security force will be determined to successfully implement Resolution No. 12 of the Politburo on "Promoting the building of a truly clean, strong, disciplined, elite, modern Public Security force, meeting the requirements and tasks in the new situation", in conjunction with the implementation of Directive No. 05 of the Politburo on studying and following the ideology, morality, and lifestyle of Ho Chi Minh.
