(Baonghean.vn) - Having been cheated out of all his money by his friends, life was difficult, Tinh invited Loc to join him in drug trafficking. Tinh looked for drugs, while Loc was responsible for finding customers to buy the "goods".

On August 21, Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened a trial for two defendants: Luong Thi Tinh (49 years old), residing in Chau Thon commune, Que Phong district and Nguyen Thi Loc (53 years old), residing in Quynh Hong commune, Quynh Luu district for the crime of "Illegal drug trafficking".

The two defendants are friends. In May 2022, Tinh called Loc many times to confide in him that he had been cheated out of all his money by friends, was currently unable to pay his debts, and was living in a very difficult life. From there, Tinh asked Loc to find someone to buy drugs, and he would be responsible for finding the source of the "goods".

On June 4, 2022, Loc ordered 1 heroin cake from Tinh for 155 million VND, and transferred 2 million VND in advance.

After finding the source of the "goods", Loc called a man he had met before in Quang Nam to inform him and told him to come out early to make the transaction.

As for Tinh, in order to have drugs to sell, he bought a heroin cake (worth 150 million VND) from a Mong man on credit. On June 8, Tinh hid the drugs in his back pocket and went to the pre-arranged location, waiting for Loc to take a taxi from Quynh Luu.

When they met, the two parties did not immediately make the transaction, but Tinh rode a motorbike behind the taxi Loc was sitting in. The purpose was for Loc to go ahead and scout the way to support Tinh in order to avoid detection by the authorities so that he could bring the "goods" to Quynh Luu to make the transaction. However, on the way, both were arrested by the police.

Searching Tinh's house, the police seized many more types of drugs with a total weight of more than 14 grams. Thus, the investigation agency determined that Tinh must bear criminal responsibility for the act of buying and selling more than 352 grams of drugs, Loc must bear responsibility for more than 338 grams.

At the trial, the two defendants confessed to their crimes, but blamed each other. Defendant Tinh said that because he was short of money when making the “red book”, he asked Loc to transfer 2 million VND in advance. Regarding the amount of drugs that the police searched and discovered in his house, Tinh said that the seller gave him more.

Meanwhile, defendant Loc said that in this case he only played a secondary role in carrying out the task of finding someone to buy drugs for Tinh.

After considering the role of each defendant in the case, as well as aggravating and mitigating circumstances, the panel sentenced Luong Thi Tinh to 20 years in prison and Nguyen Thi Loc to 17 years in prison.
