Vinh University launches ODA project worth over 2.7 billion won funded by the Korean Government

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of August 31, Vinh University held the launching ceremony of the ODA project to train advanced Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine at Vinh University, sponsored by the Korean Government.

Attending the program were Professor Chul Gyu Song - Vice President of Jeonbuk National University and members of the delegation.

On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrades: Nguyen Van De - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Quy Linh - Director of the Department of Science and Technology; Nguyen Huy Bang - Principal of Vinh University; representatives of a number of departments, branches, sectors and livestock, aquaculture and veterinary enterprises from many provinces and cities across the country.

The ODA project for advanced Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine training at Vinh University, funded by the Korean Government, has a total value of more than 2.7 billion won and will be implemented in 7 years, from 2023 to 2029, with the following objectives: Developing Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine training at Vinh University; Improving the training quality, teaching and research capacity of the teaching staff. In addition, strengthening facilities for training, research and technology transfer in the field of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine.

At the same time, contributing to improving the effectiveness of cooperation.Vinh Universitywith businesses and localities in the North Central region and the whole country, to support community development, promote the development of the Animal Husbandry - Veterinary industry in localities.

Speaking at the launching ceremony of the “ODA Project for Advanced Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine Training at Vinh University funded by the Korean Government”, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van De expressed his gratitude and congratulated Vinh University for being funded by the Korean Government to implement the project. This is also a concrete manifestation of the spirit of Comprehensive Strategic Cooperation between Vietnam and Korea.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De also introduced manyagricultural potential, veterinary of the province. Currently, Nghe An is one of the provinces with the largest livestock and poultry herds in the country. In the overall picture, the livestock and veterinary sectors have created many positive highlights, gradually transforming from small-scale, dispersed to concentrated farms; forming livestock and commodity production areas, linking value chains, to improve economic efficiency; increasing the scale of buffalo and cow herds in the West, especially dairy cows, high-quality beef cattle, increasing the output of fresh meat for sale... developing a variety of livestock.

Based on the reality, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 4222/QD-UBND dated November 9, 2023, approving the Project on livestock development associated with processing and product consumption for the period 2021-2030. Accordingly, the project clearly stated the goals for developing the province's livestock industry in the coming time in the direction of concentration, high-tech industry; livestock products meeting quality and food safety requirements for consumers; promoting livestock farming along the value chain from production to processing associated with the consumer market.

At the same time, build and develop product consumption methods to stabilize output, promote the stable and sustainable development of the province's livestock industry. Strive to achieve the target of increasing the production value of the livestock industry in the period of 2021-2025 to 5.0-5.5%, the proportion of livestock in agriculture to reach 48.5-49%, the total output of fresh meat for slaughter in 2025 to reach 334,000 tons.

Comrade Nguyen Van De also highly appreciated the training work of Vinh University, especially in the field of agriculture and rural development, contributing to providing human resources for the province. Promoting the achieved results, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee suggested that in the coming time, Vinh University should continue to make contributions to the socio-economic development of the locality, especially in training high-quality human resources for the agricultural sector in general and the livestock and veterinary sectors in particular.

At the same time, we believe that the success of the project will contribute to the development of the province's livestock industry, improve the quality of human resources in the fields of livestock and veterinary medicine, improve capacity in science and technology, breeds, vaccines, disease control, etc. For the project to be successfully implemented, the province also assigned the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Department of Science and Technology to coordinate with Vinh University to support the transfer of science and technology in the fields of livestock and veterinary medicine in Nghe An province.

Previously, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huy Bang - Rector of Vinh University expressed his gratitude to Jeonbuk National University (Korea) for trusting and introducing cooperation opportunities to Vinh University and for closely coordinating with the school to gradually complete the Project dossier.

The school's principal also said that for many years, Vinh University has trained human resources in the field of Agriculture and Rural Development with 7 undergraduate training majors in this field, including: Agronomy, Aquaculture, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Medicine, Land Management, Natural Resources and Environment Management, Crop Science and 2 postgraduate training majors: Crop Science and Aquaculture, with nearly 6,000 students graduating as engineers, nearly 500 students graduating with a master's degree. Currently, the rate of graduates with stable jobs is over 92%. These results have contributed to the socio-economic development and made Vinh University a major training, research and technology transfer center in the North Central region.

For the project to be implemented effectively, Vinh University commits to creating the most favorable conditions for the Project Management and Implementation Board; Providing human resources, facilities and finance necessary to implement activities within the framework of the Project; Complying with the terms stipulated in the Funding Agreement and relevant regulations of the two Governments of Vietnam and Korea; Having an action plan to promote the effectiveness and sustainability of the Project; Promoting community service activities through the Project's activities.

At the ceremony, Professor Song Chul Gyu - Vice President in charge of research of Jeonbuk National University (Korea) said: The project aims to lead the development of the Animal Husbandry industry in Vietnam by enhancing the training and research capacity of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Vinh University - a major university in the North Central region of Vietnam.

Through this project, the school will provide practical support in enhancing the capacity of the Animal Husbandry Department of Vinh University, which is also one of the backbone departments, playing a pivotal role at Jeonbuk National University.
