Ukrainian Defense Minister submits resignation to Parliament
(Baonghean.vn) - Ukrainian Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov has submitted his resignation to the Verkhovna Rada.

Sharing on his personal Facebook page, Ukrainian Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov said that, following the decision of the country's President, he submitted his resignation to the Verkhova Rada (Parliament of Ukraine).
A day earlier, on September 3, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced his decision to fire Reznikov and replace him with the head of the State Property Fund, Rustem Umerov.
Currently, all decisions on dismissal and appointment are pending Verkhovna Rada approval.
The move sets the stage for the biggest overhaul of Ukraine's defense apparatus since the conflict broke out in February 2022.
Mr Reznikov, who was appointed defence minister in November 2021, has helped secure billions of dollars in Western military aid to support the fighting.
Mr. Reznikov’s dismissal was due to corruption scandals involving the Ukrainian Defense Ministry. Although Mr. Reznikov was not involved in any of these scandals, the incidents were still seen as damaging to his reputation.
Meanwhile, President Zelensky affirmed that eliminating corruption in the Ukrainian government is the key to helping Kiev become an official member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the European Union (EU).
