Crimean officials call Ukraine's law on division of peninsula a 'farce'
(Baonghean.vn)- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a law amending the administrative territorial structure of Crimea. Its goal is to prepare “the ground for the liberation of the peninsula”.

The law amending the administrative-territorial structure of Crimea provides for the dissolution of the Crimean community, the division of new regions, and the creation of military and military-civilian administrative bodies.
Reacting to this move, Russian State Duma Deputy Dmitry Belik called the Ukrainian law on the administrative division of the peninsula “legally and practically meaningless”.
“Mr. Zelensky wants to write his name in history, but he is faced with today's reality, in which Crimea was, is and will always be Russian. Any document signed in Kiev on the territory of Crimea has no legal meaning and practically means absolutely nothing for the people of Crimea,” – State Duma Deputy Dmitry Belik asserted.
According to Mr. Belkik, Zelensky increasingly looks more like a “fashionable PR person” than a leader of a country in conflict. The Kiev authorities are trying to divert public attention from the defeat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the front lines.
Meanwhile, Crimean officials called Ukraine's law on the administrative division of the peninsula "insane."
“In Crimea, we are used to Zelensky’s antics and crazy moves. This time, we could not be any different. For Zelensky, Crimea has always been a headache,” said Deputy Speaker of the Crimean Parliament Vladimir Bobkov.
According to Mr. Bobkov, Ukrainian leader Zelensky is living "in an era of administrative and territorial transformations".
“Since he came to power, administrative and territorial transformations in Ukraine have been taking place regularly: regions and cities are being divided, territories are being lost. Therefore, stopping this process may haunt him,” said Crimean parliament deputy Vladimir Bobkov.
